NEWS, INFORMATION & RESOURCES

13.  How to celebrate your volunteers this Volunteers' Week

Volunteers are the backbone of the charity sector, so this Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), why not show your appreciation and do something special to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution that they make to your charity.

Sometimes it’s difficult to show your appreciation, however, it’s really the small and thoughtful things that count. Here are some ideas for how you can celebrate and thank your volunteers during this year’s Volunteers’ Week.

Thank your volunteers: Download certificates to present to your volunteers and show them how important they are.

Run an event: Download banners and photocards to add a splash of colour to your celebration

Spread the word: Download eye-catching social media graphics and share your celebrations and volunteer stories using #VolunteersWeek – remember to tag @HADCAcharity so we can help promote the incredible difference volunteers make.

14. Carers’ Week 5-11 June 2023

The national theme this year is ‘Recognising and supporting carers in the community’.
Communities are being asked to come together to recognise the huge contribution unpaid carers make to society.

Carers’ Resource are inviting local organisations, politicians, council officers, health officials, businesses and community groups to their offices during the week, to find out how they can better support unpaid carers.

The local event is on 6 June, 2-4pm at the Harrogate office, Unit 3, Grove Park Court, Grove Park Terrace HG1 4DP.

There’s lots going on for carers as well!

15.  Jan Garrill leaves a lasting legacy as she steps down and welcomes Celia McKeon as CEO of Two Ridings Community Foundation

HADCA valued all Jan’s support in setting up THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District. 88 local projects have received grants totalling £240k since 2018, a fantastic legacy. We look forward working with Celia to grow local giving.

In April 2023 local government boundaries changed. However, the area of benefit for THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate district remains the area that was formerly Harrogate District. This geographical area reflects who made donations into the fund, and the places and communities they wanted to benefit. The fund will re-open in June, with decisions in September.
