Hi,

Happy Friday and welcome again to ADHD Matters where, once a month, I share some of what I'm reading (occasionally writing), watching, listening to; things I'm trying out or working on, and ADHD matters I'm just pondering.

Last month’s newsletter might have been a challenging one with the Russell Barkley lecture, and so this month I thought I would take a more positive look at ADHD. And you know me, I know it’s not all rainbows and unicorns but - let's get positive, I wanna get positive, let's get into posititiiiive!!

And on that note…

I’m listening to …

Kristen Carder talking to the legendary Dr Edward “Ned” Hallowell on her “I have ADHD” podcast.

Ned, together with fellow psychiatrist Dr John Ratey, brought adult ADHD into the spotlight when they wrote “Driven to Distraction” in 1995. Ned literally invented ADHD coaching! Ned and John have ADHD, and they are two of my favourite authors.

Kristen is firmly in the Russell Barkley camp, and I so thought it was great that she had Ned on her podcast talking about his decidedly more positive perspective on ADHD and its hidden gifts. I hope you enjoy listening to “I have ADHD podcast Episode #157: Unwrapping the Gift of ADHD with Dr. Ned Hallowell.”

I'm watching ...

Jessica McCabe and comedian Rick Green have a lively discussion about ADHD. I loved this upbeat and sometimes funny video where they talk about owning their ADHD and share ideas about how they have grown to accept and cope with their ADHD. Watch “Jessica McCabe and Rick Green Get Real about ADHD.”

Incidentally, I asked ChatGPT “who is the most well-known ADHD youtuber in the world” and Jessica McCabe, Ned Hallowell and Rick Green came up tops :-)

I'm working on ...

Staying warm and remembering – as I write this newsletter - “good enough is okay!”

And that's all folks. Three from me this again month! Thanks for reading.

And as always, all feedback is welcome - just drop me an email. Which part of the newsletter did you enjoy the most or really resonated with you? What would you like to see more or less of? Any other suggestions? Let me know. I genuinely appreciate your input.

I hope you are looking forward to a lovely weekend, I know I am!

Happy thriving,

Philip
