A World With Limitless Possibilities

Jesus has prepared a world full of limitless possibilities for those of us who believe! I want you to know this as we examine the story of Lazarus. In this story, Jesus is doing ministry when he learns that his good friend Lazarus is sick and may die. Because Jesus is a healer, He is asked to come quickly and heal him before he dies. But the Lord seems to tarry until He learns that his friend Lazarus is dead. Then He heads to the home of Martha in Bethany.

As Jesus arrives, Lazarus’ sister and Jesus’ good friend Martha runs out and says, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus says he will be raised from the dead despite the fact that the body was stinking and had been dead for four days. At Jesus’ request, they roll back the gravestone. Then, looking at the tomb, Jesus calls “Lazarus, come out!” And out comes a man who looks like a mummy wrapped in linen. God has just touched him.

Friend, what I really want you to see is how Martha believed in God. She was a committed Jewish woman, and she loved her brother. But her frame of thinking was that Jesus can only heal people if they’re alive, not once they’re departed and gone from this world. Through the resurrection of Lazarus, Jesus shows us a world with limitless opportunities. We can embrace what Jesus said is true — all things are possible; yes, all things are possible for your life!
