Dear Centennial Crew,

I’m thrilled, honored and humbled to have been named the official principal at Centennial! Thank you for all of the support through a 4-month, 5-step interview process. It was worth it! I am so lucky be able to serve our awesome community and lead with the Centennial crew.

I already have some exciting news to share, and I am so proud of our amazing crew! On Monday and Tuesday, we hosted our EL Education School Credential two-day site visit (read last week’s Crew News for more info). We will get a full feedback letter from the team detailing strengths and areas for improvement, as well as the decision on our credential in the coming weeks, which is very exciting. They shared some very positive feedback at the end of their visit as well. My favorite two quotes were: Visitors heard teachers and staff tell kids, “I love you” in multiple ways — there is clear evidence that kids are well-cared for; staff, students, teachers care for kids…WoRLD CARE is everywhere and integrated into instruction.” and “Classrooms feel like EL classrooms — kids are engaged, empowered, they share wonderful ideas, their voices are valued, they see mistakes as learning opportunities…kids show quiet delight at being in community together and in learning.” I am so proud of our awesome teachers and staff, and of our kiddos who really stole the show. I look forward to sharing progress soon!

We can’t wait to see you all tonight at Celebration of Learning from 5:30 - 7:00pm. For the first time, we’ll have a food truck out front -- The Walking Taco. Stop by! See you again on Friday for Field Day. Remember to bring your Color Run T-shirt! Here are the times: ECE - 1st: 9:35-11:15, 2nd - 5th: 1:55 - 3:45. I’ll be in the gym working the silent disco station -- come on by to party with me!

Next week we’re excited for 5th grade continuation on Thursday, 6/1 at 9:30am in the auditorium. Remember that the last day of school on Friday, 6/2 is a half day -- we will release at 11:50am. Kids can pick up a sack lunch in the cafeteria if they would like -- we’re having grab-and-go lunch for our half day. We will continue the last-day countdown on the playgrounds to celebrate the end of an awesome year. I can’t believe it’s already coming to a close!
