Recently I received an email from a former student of mine. Check this out.

I am now on my 9th guitar build.  I have been making them gifts to my high school buddies that were in bands with me during my youthful glory days.  It is so satisfying to me that I see photo clips of my guitars being played on stage, at celebrations of life, and one in particular is now a premier studio musician in Indianapolis who now uses one of my guitars over his Santa Cruz.  My favorite guitar is the guitar I made under your tutelage in Colorado and I take it with me everywhere.  We are taking a break this weekend on Longboat Key in Florida, and stopped off at Seven C Music who are master luthiers, and sell high end guitars, both new and pre-owned.  I had the opportunity to play a $6,000 Collings in his store, and as soon as I put my hands around the neck I knew it was nowhere near my guitar.  Admittedly, it was very pretty, but it played nowhere near the ease of mine, and didn’t sound anywhere nearly as good as mine.  Thank you for giving me a bright light  in my retirement.  I love building, and I love it when musicians use my (our) guitars and I will build as long as my eyesight permits and my hands are steady.
