For me, it has been a soothing sound... unless you hear the slight agitated roar. Look below for that.
The hum of Bees can actually be hypnotic. They hit frequencies below 500hz. These tend to be the hz for heart chakra down. Soothing all of the energies from the throat and heart down, drawing you into the "I am," state yet the very important state of being with everything at once. The true merging of everything around you.
The smell of a hive is more than the slight honey smell. There is a warm wax tinged with honey that wafts from them. The smell of the spiced propolis (bee glue lol) The sound and smell of the wood in the hive boxes called supers. The crack of the propolis that the Bees glued the boxes together with sounds like you splintered the wood. Yet that soft smell of wax and hum of the Bees meets you with greetings.
I enjoyed working with the Bees and miss it very much. It was a meditation when not having to complete a task before the rain or trying to get to all the hives before dark.
I became allergic a few years ago.
I still go visit my family, Bees, though. I don't get into the hives, but I watch their dance and flight patterns.
They look in cheerful moods. I then listen... yep, happy buzzing. I creep closer. Then listen to their words.
