Current Opportunities

God is working in coastal Kenya, and you can get involved! Here’s how.

A hundred and four

In 2023, we began sponsoring our 100th MKK!! With all the busyness of getting them in school and planning for the MKK Camp, we let the milestone pass unrecognized.

Let us take a moment and thank God for the profound privilege and pleasure of being invited to join the work he is doing in the lives of so many young people. Since we began in 2012, we have sponsored (or are currently still sponsoring) 104 students. How amazing!

This year, we have more than ever before:

  • 1 in primary school

  • 3 in junior secondary school

  • 31 in high school

  • 20 in college

MKK Camp Update

All but one of our high schoolers (who had to stay home sick) attended camp this year. Our last camp was in 2019, and we were all excited! An extra blessing is that the camp was fully funded by many individual donors. Pictured above: 30 MKKs and Nate Kahindi at camp.

Opportunities

Want to join the fun? There are three things you can do right now.

Host

It is again time to start planning for the Kahindi family to visit the US. We want to visit churches, Bible studies, groups of friends, or even share a pot of coffee one-on-one. Do you want us to visit your group to talk and give updates? We’d love to! Help us make plans for the September and October time frame.

Give

  • We have MKKs who are still not sponsored. We are at about 40% sponsorship this year. This leaves a lot of room for involvement! You, as an individual or a group, can choose an MKK to sponsor or give to MKKs in general, and we will match the gift with an unsponsored MKK. You can give one-time or on a monthly basis. You can see all the MKKs who need sponsors in our Facebook photo album. (Note: you do not need to be logged in to Facebook to view this album.)

  • For the Kahindis to travel to the US, we estimate the flights will be about $5,000.

Pray

  • The MKKs graduating from high school this year have spent all of their high school years in the pandemic/post-pandemic education system. This is actually their first year with a normal school schedule in high school. Compared with previous high school graduates, they are not doing as well in school, and they are more stressed. Pray for their hearts and minds.

  • Join the team in Kenya praying for wisdom and direction in future planning for MKKs.

Thanks for joining us in this adventure as we follow Jesus together.
