Eliane Ubalijoro, new CEO of CIFOR-ICRAF has started her tenure this month. Eliane is the first African woman to lead a CGIAR center in its 52-year history and we couldn’t be more delighted. You can see her opening address at CIFOR-ICRAF Science Week (8-12 May) here.

On 7 March, we hosted our 6th Investment Case Symposium, GLF–Luxembourg Finance for Nature: What comes next?. Held in Luxembourg and online, the event brought together 4,657 participants from 162 countries and over 100 GLF partners to pave a greener path forward for finance. Here are some of the lessons we learned during the event:
- Neither governments nor the private sector can solve the climate and biodiversity crises alone. Policymakers and bankers must engage with stakeholders to understand how they can work together to achieve impact.
- As sustainable finance grows, we need mandatory verification and audit systems and clear regulations and standards for sustainability to facilitate green investing.
- Policymakers must create appropriate regulations to ensure transparency, traceability and sustainability in all commodity supply chains.
- It’s time for new financing solutions to build the green economy of the future. Some innovative examples include: forest funds, microfinance, and payments for ecosystem services.
