Reactions to ChatGPT and other generative AIs range from "artificial intelligence will replace us humans" to "it sucks". However, one thing cannot be denied: it is fascinating and it will change our everyday lives.

And there are good reasons for this: AI has all the characteristics of a general purpose technology that can be used in any industry and for any purpose in life. Like steam, electricity or computers, it will complement our lives and become an indispensable part of humanity. And it opens the 6th Wave of innovation and entrepreneurship, originally described by Nikolai Kondratiev and enhanced by Joseph Schumpeter.

These waves of innovation, observed since the late 18th century, are shortening from more than half a century to a few decades. And the public, according to surveys, seems to have realized how important AI will become in all areas of life. We need to prepare for it, and better today than yesterday. (Summer and Autumn 2023)

In the coming months, I will be in Europe repeatedly to conduct workshops and give talks on generative AI and the implications for a wide variety of industries. The workshops will cover AI in general and generative AI like ChatGPT in particular, with an in-depth look at exactly how it works. The aim is to understand strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities, limitations and associated risks of those AIs. In the workshops there is also a big hands-on focus and getting familiar with several AI tools.

The workshops themselves can range from half a day to several days. An ideal start is certainly a half day, for an industry specific in-depth a day is well suited. The attention and exceedingly amazing possibilities offered to users by GPT-4, ChatGPT, Bard, Alep Alpha, Hugging Face, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, Lensa, Jarvis, AutoGPT or BabyAGI made the interest in AI shoot through the roof. But what generative, creative, autonomous AI really is and how it can be used in one's own business or personally is not so easy to sort through.

In Kreative Intelligenz I explain the type of AI, what it can already do today and in which application areas it is used, as well as what further opportunities and possibilities will present themselves, but also what challenges we are facing with this powerful technology.
