Less Crowded Vacations for Summer - May 23, 2023

Hello Fellow Traveler,

Yay! It’s finally Memorial Day weekend and summer has begun. Did you see that AAA projects 42.3M Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this weekend? That’s up 7% over last year — in other words, 2.7M more people will be competing for where you want to be. We’re suggesting three of the best summer vacation ideas to leave the crowds behind, plus another 48 great places to explore when you read more…

Plan Summer Vacation at Less Crowded Destinations

  • Saranac Lake and Tupper Lakes are fun little towns tucked into the 6-million-acre Adirondacks, so there’s plenty of space for everyone.

  • Did you know these 11 top family resorts have a special focus on junior golf in summer and some of the programs are actually free?

  • Avoid traffic jams at the national parks by heading West aboard an Amtrak sleeper train for an eco-friendly family rail adventure.

  • Eileen Ogintz of TakingtheKids dives deep into the many Alaska cruise options (see #alaskabysea ) available to families this summer, and says planning ahead for a 2024 bucket list trip or reunion may be your best bet.

Wherever you're off to, safe there, safe home.
