 ANNOUNCEMENTS

May 28, 2023

WELCOME!  If you are a visitor or new to Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church—we’re glad you’re here. Worship at our church is a joyful, prayerful, music-filled, traditional and modern experience. We worship to glorify God and build up the community of believers to live in this world as followers of Jesus Christ.

The 8:30 am traditional service meets in Sanner Chapel, immediately inside the front entrance of the church. Our second service, The Gathering, takes place at 9:30 am in Asbury Center. Our traditional 10:45 am service is in the Sanctuary and is livestreamed on our website, Facebook and YouTube. You can also access the livestream by clicking here

RUMMAGE SALE
NEXT SATURDAY
June 3rd, 2023 | 9:00am – 2:00 pm

Mark your calendars! The Summer Rummage Sale is back and better than ever. The Summer Rummage Sale is the perfect opportunity to donate all of the treasures you have found while spring cleaning, but no longer have a use for.

You can support the rummage sale and missions it benefits in two ways:

Donation of Your Items: Contributions include clothing, housewares, furniture, jewelry, books, children’s clothing, toys, and decorations. We cannot accept computers, older TVs, or non-working appliances. Please bring your donations to Asbury Center. As always we have volunteers with trucks who can pick up large pieces. Please call the church office if you need assistance with the donation of your goods.
Donation of Your Time: We need volunteers to set up and sort items starting Wednesday, May 31st. We will also need volunteers the day of the sale to assist in selling, bagging, and clean up.
During the sorting of items taking place Wednesday, May 31st – Friday, June 2nd, all volunteers will be served lunch along with a dinner of leftovers served on Thursday, June 1st. If you cannot donate your time and have no goods to donate, consider preparing food for the volunteers. If you wish to prepare food, please email Mary Garber at mgarber1989@aol.com.

If you have any questions or wish to volunteer, please email any one of the following individuals:
Mary Garber: mgarber1989@aol.com

United Women in Faith June Meeting
honoring  Barbara Watson
On Tuesday, June 13 at 6 p.m. in Asbury Center, the UWF will holds its final meeting of the season where we’ll present Barbara Watson with a mission recognition pin that honors her years of faithful service on behalf of women, children and youth. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate! As this is a salad supper, please bring your favorite salad to share. We’ll provide desserts and drinks.

Please call the church office to register no later than Friday, June 9 at 412.531.7131.

We’ll also be collecting items for Pittsburgh’s Foster Love Project in Barbara’s honor.
Often with short notice, foster parents must scramble to have the basic clothing and necessities for the children being placed in their homes. Andrew and Kelly Hughes found themselves in this scenario in 2013 when three foster children arrived at their door. As a result of this experience, Kelly created the Foster Love Project in 2014 to provide love in action through goods, services, and support for families and children impacted by foster care.

The inaugural program was a placement bag drive which received overwhelming community support. Then in 2016, Foster Love Project formed a board of directors and the organization became a registered non-profit organization.

Foster Love Project now offers seven programs throughout the year. One of the ways to get involved is by donating goods for foster youth, including:

Shower caps
17-oz spray bottles
Shea Moisture (shampoo, conditioner, kids detangler, moisture mist)
Cantu Care for Kids (shampoo, conditioner, detanglers, curling cream) conditioning detangler
Cantu daily oil moisturizer
Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco
Jojoba oils
As I Am (double butter cream)
Detangling brushes
Wide tooth combs
Baby gates
Art supplies
Books (all ages)
Outdoor toys (dart guns, balls, jump ropes)
Twin bed-in-a-bag
Twin sheets
Razors
Body washes
Deodorants
Body lotions

If you’re unable to donate an item, please consider making a small monetary donation in Barbara’s honor. Checks can be made out to “United Women in Faith” with “Foster Love Project” on the donation line and sent to or dropped off in the church office. We’ll ensure this money is sent on to the organization on your behalf.

Prayer Partners Needed
The youth mission team is again looking for prayer partners for our annual mission. We like for each participant (youth and adult)  to have a couple of people praying specifically for them as we prepare to embark upon the trip. The trip is July 9th-15th this year. Look for Stephanie Lowe after service or contact her at youth@mlumc.org or 412-584-5446.

Every Sunday there are three opportunities to enhance our 10:45 service for in person and online worship: house slides, sound, and livestream attendants.  Starting in April, we desire to have a rotating schedule that would only require commitment for one Sunday a month.  Training is simple and available by just sitting with the team in the balcony.  Specific training times can also be set up by request.
No previous experience is necessary. Please contact the church office to join the digital worship team!
