The World’s Best Pilsner is on Western Avenue

Congratulations to Horse Thief Hollow, winner of a Gold Medal in the World Beer Cup! They won the prestigious medal, their ninth award, for one of their flagship brews, an American Pilsner called Little Wing. The Chicago Tribune featured them in a story published today, and you can celebrate with them on May 21 for Small Brewery Sunday!.

May 23 Cash Mob for Ain’t She Sweet & Andy Sunflower Cafe

Ain’t She Sweet Cafe and AndySunflower Cafe, 9920 S. Western Ave., recently suffered two burglaries during the overnight hours on back-to-back Saturdays. To help them recover from the financial hit of window damage and lost sales due to a closure for clean-up, the MPBHBA is hosting a cash mob. On Tuesday, May 23, all are encouraged to stop in and show these local gems our support by making a purchase during business hours and sharing this information to spread the word!

Maxwell Street Market Seeks New Vendors for the Season

The Maxwell Street Market is a Chicago tradition with an eclectic mix of handmade crafts, resale housewares and clothing, live music, family fun and some of the best street food in Chicago. The Market hopes to attract new and different makers, creators and merchandise vendors this season. Vendors can sign up for 1 day or all 22 Markets until the end of October.

Let Us Promote Your Father’s Day Specials

Do you have a specialty service, product, or gift idea that dads would love? The MPBHBA is planning a shop local campaign for Father’s Day! Send us your Father’s Day specials by May 21, and we’ll include them in our marketing campaign that will include print advertising and a poster distributed at participating businesses. Example: Buy Dad his favorite 4-packs from Open Outcry!

Be Part of Black Business Month & Join the Black Business Owner Directory!

August is National Black Business Month, a designated time to celebrate and support Black-owned businesses nationwide. A group of Black business owners, plus the MPBHBA, 95th Street Business Association, and BAPA have been meeting to discuss ways we can collaborate and connect. The conversations have resulted in a plan to create a Black business directory, as well as to partner for Black Business Month in August. If you are a Black business owner in Beverly or Morgan Park, please submit your business information so that your business can be featured in a local directory. Fill out the form to also be part of Black Business Month in August. More information is coming soon!

Neighborhood Pride Picnic Seeks Sponsors

In honor of LGBT Pride Month in June, our community is planning its first neighborhood Pride Picnic. The celebration is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, from noon to 3 pm at the Edna White Garden, 1812 W. Monterey Ave. The planning committee is seeking donations for food and entertainment. Sponsors will be recognized at the event and in all marketing communications.

Join us on Monday, June 5, at Beverly Bank for a record keeping workshop for businesses. The workshop will run from 9:00 to 10:00 am, with a question and answer session afterwards. Refreshments will be provided.

As part of the general discussion, Beverly Bank will offer helpful hints and dos & dont's for when business is slow. This workshop is reserved for business owners in Morgan Park and Beverly Hills. Space is limited and RSVP is required.
