Training Opportunities from the NITEWD

The NITEWD sees its training and outreach efforts as drivers of equity in trauma support for youth and families. A main barrier to BILPOC (Black, Indigenous, Latine/Latinx, and persons of color) children’s and adolescents’ receipt of evidence-base trauma care is the limited number of BILPOC clinicians trained in trauma-informed practice. The following training courses aim to increase the number of trauma-informed practitioners, especially among BILPOC practitioners.

Online course for mental and behavioral health practitioners

Over 1000 participants enrolled since January 2023!

Advanced Training in Trauma Informed Practice Elements

Be on the lookout! The NITEWD will launch its Advanced Training in Trauma Informed Practice Elements in fall 2023 for individuals who have completed the Core Components and Skills for Trauma Informed Practice online course. Learners will continue their skill development in the implementation of the common trauma informed practice elements with children and families and receive 4 CE credits for each of the three trainings, with an opportunity to achieve 12 CE credits in total. The trainings provide:
  • Opportunities for application of lessons learned to your work
  • Opportunities to practice these skills with other trainees
  • Guidance on implementing the common trauma informed practice elements using a trauma-informed, anti-racist framework
