Staff, faculty invited to join UTM’s Convocation processions
UTM’s Spring Convocation is scheduled on Wednesday, June 7 and Thursday, June 8 in Convocation Hall.
Each department is asked to contribute at least one faculty member who will robe, process and sit on the stage for each of the five ceremonies. Please send the email of the faculty representing your department at each ceremony by Thursday, May 18 to Mary-Catherine Hayward in the Office of the Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean (at 905-828-5377 or marycatherine.hayward@utoronto.ca). Any and all faculty are invited to be on the stage. The office will have a limited number gowns to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. Regalia Rental Service will be available until May 18, to be collected on the day of the ceremony from the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 55 College Street. Participants are required to assemble 30 minutes prior to the ceremony on the second floor of Simcoe Hall, 27 King’s College Circle. To join processions, complete the RSVP form. Support group hosts special series for survivors of sexual violence
The Healing Hearts support group for people of all genders who have had an experience of sexual violence or harassment will host a three-part summer series focusing on Muslim-identified and Indigenous-identified survivors of sexual violence. Sessions will be held on Mondays, May 29 to July 17, via Zoom from 2-3 p.m. Learn more
PRIDE Pitch features $5,000 in cash prizes
ICUBE, The University of Toronto and The City of Mississauga will host the fourth annual PRIDE Pitch event on June 14. It is open to all students, staff and faculty from all three campuses of the university, as well as the Peel community.
The competition offers $5,000 in cash prizes to recognize, reward and accelerate the growth of 2SLGBTQ+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning and others) entrepreneurs.
Individuals or teams will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas through a five-minute pitch to a panel of judges who will evaluate for originality, feasibility, impact and potential for success. Learn more

Registration is now open for the Cross-Disciplinary Dialogues Conference in Honour of UTM Professor of Italian Language and Literature Michael Lettieri.
Over his past 40 years of service to U of T, Lettieri has contributed significantly to fostering UTM’s rise as a global leader in the field of Italian studies and beyond.

Professor emeritus Roger Beck is being remembered for dedication to not only the Department of Historical Studies, but also to UTM's theatre and drama studies program.
During his tenure at the Mississauga campus, Beck held several administrative roles including acting principal (1991-92), associate dean (1985-91), vice-principal academic (1986-91) and chair of Erindale College Council, the forerunner of UTM's Campus Council. Read more
UTM Student Affairs & Services and Accessibility Services are mourning the loss of Teresa Jose, Assistant Director, Accessibility Services.
In her 29 years at UTM, Jose advised students with disabilities, liaised with academic departments on accommodations, supported faculty, staff and students in service delivery, and provided thoughtful leadership. Read more
