News from Harvard Book Store

Stock Up for Summer

Okay, it's not quite "summer reading" season just yet. We're still in the swing of spring, with graduations, breezy open windows, and the occasional chilly morning. But summer reading time will be here before you know it, and we have a few great opportunities to stock up.

They Had Us in the First Half

“If I could wake up in a different place, at a different time, could I wake up as a different person?”

“I'm so much happier now that I'm dead."

“I told you and told you there was nothing to be afraid of.”

They had us in the first half, and then, TWIST! Our staff has compiled some of our favorite books with unexpected twists and surprise turns in our latest "A Very Harvard Book Store Introduction" display.

We have modern classics, classics of English literature, jaw-dropping surprises for kids, gruesome twists for thrill-seeking grown-ups, and some excellent new releases and new discoveries—all of which will have you fervently turning the pages. (Even if Grover begs you not to).

Check out our picks in the store this month and here on harvard.com.

Children's Used Books Pop-Up Sale

Visit the bookstore today or tomorrow (May 19–20) and head to the back of the first room, where we've brought out our back room overstock of kids used books for a mini book fair—perfect for bargain hunters stocking up for summer reading. Most of the books at this weekend's Kids Used Books Pop-Up Sale are between $2.50 and $9.95 and include titles for kiddos of all ages—board books and picture books for the youngest bibliophiles, and chapter books for emerging readers. Come treasure hunting!

And if you are looking to make some space on your shelves, here's your reminder that we buy back your used books! Check out all the guidelines and buying hours on harvard.com. We can’t take everything, but we can’t wait to see what you have for us!

» R. F. Kuang with Kalyani Saxena (May 23)

"Every once in a while there is a novel that enters the literary zeitgeist and requires discourse — but it feels like there is nothing that can be written or said that will ever do it justice. This is the feeling R.F. Kuang's new novel Yellowface evokes . . . Highly immersive . . . A thrilling journey . . . " —NPR

» Leah and Richard Rothstein with Tanisha M. Sullivan (Jun 15)

In the six years since its initial publication, Richard Rothstein's The Color of Law, “the most forceful argument ever published on how federal, state, and local governments gave rise to and reinforced neighborhood segregation” (William Julius Wilson), has become a landmark work. Now Just Action is a blueprint for concerned citizens and community leaders.

» Colson Whitehead with Namwali Serpell (Jul 19)

The two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and bestselling author of Harlem Shuffle continues his Harlem saga with Crook Manifesto—a powerful and hugely-entertaining novel that summons 1970s New York in all its seedy glory.
