Dear Friends,

Wow! What a whirlwind of a month.

Took a course at Columbia University, attended my high-school reunion, participated in a retreat with performance thought leaders Jim Harshaw Jr. and Dr. Nate Zinsser, and traveled to Washington, DC for discussions related to big news coming about Trenton Youth Wrestling. It was a productive and exciting month, and you can anticipate some exciting announcements next month regarding Trenton Youth Wresting.

Visiting Columbia and joining a performance retreat reminded me of Pasteur's answer to the question "Why should you pursue continuous learning and self-improvement?"

Let's get started!

As we rapidly approach 4 MILLION views of the "Hallway Walk & Talk" video series, it's fun to remember that we launched while wondering if there might be some kind of an audience for this little-known part of a med student's education.

Med Students can tell you about the immense amount of teaching and learning that takes place in the moments before and after seeing a patient. Med Student Maggie Fitzpatrick and I collaborated to create this video series and share the experience with you. Where does a med student learn medicine? Anywhere she can!

Watch it now.

Narrative Medicine

April 21-23:  Traveled to NYC to attend "The Art and Science of Narrative Medicine" workshop at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Narrative Medicine is both cutting edge practice of medicine, and a reflection of the one-to-one personal medicine I saw my Grandpa Pizzi practice so many years ago. I'm excited about this development and believe it will prove important in the humanization of medical practice in years to come.
Curious about Grandpa Pizzi? I've written about him previously on my website. Read more here

Pathfinder Retreat

It's always a pleasure to spend time with Dr. Nate Zinsser and Jim Harshaw, Jr.
Dr. Zinsser is mentor, friend, and colleague. He served for many years as head of the Center for Enhanced Performance at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point. I've also known Jim for years. Jim is a TEDx Speaker, performance coach, former Division I All American wrestler and former Division I head coach.
If you're interested in improving your performance in all facets of life, these are two names you need to know.

Speaking of performance, NeuroRounds is designed as a LIVE event, however we've decided to offer occasional video clips that discuss a condition or situation in more detail. Typically 5 to 6 minutes long, these clips are densely packed with real world medicine and will give you a feel for the NeuroRounds experience. Our March 7th event included this discussion about drain usage in cranial surgery.

Watch the video to and then follow this link to get your invitation to our upcoming June 6th event. If you're serious about medicine, you should be joining us 7:00 AM on the first Tuesday of the month. NeuroRounds is CME approved and 100% free. Join your peers and enhance your medical skillset. When your Match Day comes, you'll be glad you did.

Our next NeuroRounds Event is June 6th, 2023 at 7:00 AM Eastern.

NeuroRounds is a CME Credit Approved, Virtual Clinical Experience presented using Zoom. It is intended for Med Students, Pre-Med, NP's, PA-C's or anyone looking to improve their professional skill set and understanding.
