Each year, every state's Center for the Book chooses an adult and a youth book to represent their state in the Great Reads from Great Places initiative. The books are then highlighted at the National Book Festival and added to the list of Great Reads titles.
We are proud to announce the 2023 Ohio Great Reads selections:
2023 Youth Selection
When Grandma Gatewood Took a Hike, written by Michelle Houts and illustrated by Erica Magnus.
2023 Adult Selection
Stay and Fight by Madeline ffitch
Each book provides a different perspective on Appalachian Ohio.

Celebrate A "Poem for Cleveland"
|
|
|
Join us on Saturday, June 24 at 2:00 pm to celebrate the completion of the Poem for Cleveland project with Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate, Ray McNiece, and his team of young poets along with the contributors who added their voices to the story of Cleveland this past year in poetry that bridges cultures, generations, and neighborhoods.
The event will include an intergenerational reading in Cleveland Public Library’s Louis Stokes Wing Auditorium with the poets backed up with music by the band Tongue In Groove.
Poem for Cleveland, an anthology of the works created from the project, will be published by Red Giant Press.
For full details, click the button below. McNiece will also share how the project can be replicated in other cities, and that information will be shared on our website when it becomes available.
