St Marys Lights Up This Saturday

Coachmans Park is set to come alive this weekend with roving performers, amusements rides, a gaming station and live music on stage. A soft play zone will keep toddlers entertained, while a range of food trucks will serve up delicious dinners and snacks. Don't miss this free community event, happening from 4pm–9pm.

Community Strategic Plan 

There is now an easy to read, accessible version of Council’s Community Strategic Plan. By producing a version that's easy to understand and uses images to illustrate the content, Council hopes to work with all residents in the community to make our goals happen.

2023 Australian Liveability Census

Until 30 June, residents have the chance to provide input on local issues that matters to them – such as parking, access to green spaces, or improved public safety – in the 2023 Australian Liveability Census. Participants will have the chance to win one of 50 x $100 vouchers.

Memory Park

Penrith's Memory Park and honour roll walls were first unveiled on 8 July 1922. Recently the lighting was repaired and improved with the input of Australian artist Terrance Plowright. Much of the stonework was also pressure cleaned, ensuring that this solemn and significant memorial remains in tip-top shape. 

300 Paintings at The Joan

Sam Kissajukian, an award-winning comedian with over a decade of experience on stage, has a new show coming to The Joan. On Friday 26 May, he will talk the audience through the 300 paintings he created during five months of isolation during lockdown.

The Draft 2023-24 Operational Plan and Draft 2023-24 Fees and Charges are now on public exhibition until 1 June 2023. The Operational Plan includes $400 million in capital and operational work to meet the needs of the growing city. The plan identifies 136 draft actions to be delivered over the next financial year, ensuring effective service delivery and progressing priorities.

Rebellious Belly

The work of Sydney-based, Pakistani-born multidisciplinary artist Abdullah M. I. Syed is being showcased in a new exhibition, Rebellious Belly; his first major presentation in Western Sydney. Rebellious Belly is free at Penrith Regional Gallery, Home of The Lewers Bequest from 3 June—20 August 2023.

Fundraising Success

In front of more than 220 guests, Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen presented a cheque worth $60,000 to The Haven – Nepean Women’s Shelter at the Mayoral Charity Ball. This incredible event shone a light on the issues of domestic and family violence experienced by members of our community.

Blue Mountains Crossing

This week marked the 210th anniversary of the crossing of the Blue Mountains by Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth. The photo shows the Clock Memorial near the Log Cabin that was erected in 1938 by the citizens of Penrith to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the crossing.

Family Fun Day

Bring the little ones down to Ched's Town Reserve on Saturday 3 June for a free Family Fun Day. This pop-up event runs from 10am to 3pm and will feature a petting zoo, an inflatable obstacle course, food vans and more. We will also have a range of local services coming along so you can learn more about what’s on offer in your community.
