SESSIONS

Sun. May 21- Pub Session - 2pm to 5pm.  NATIONAL FIDDLING DAY Open jam session at the Barley Mow, 1541 Merivale Rd. In 2015 Canada's national fiddling day was proclaimed in the interest of all Canadians to become more familiar with the traditional and contemporary importance of fiddling and its importance to Canadian heritage and Canadian society. Come learn about Canada's wonderful Cape Breton fiddle tradition with us! Fiddlers, guitarists, piano players, whatever are welcome - or just stop by to listen and chat with the friendly folk at the pub. Be ready to play Fiddle Bill, Canada's National Fiddling Day Two-Step

Sun. May 28 - Reel Sloow Jam - 2pm to 5pm. We are finally restarting our house sessions/slow jams! We are starting slowly, with small groups, which means that we will require RSVPs and will stop accepting responses once the limit has been reached. If you would like to attend fill enter your name and email here. If the session is full you can try again later in case a space has opened up. If your plans change please notify us so that the space can be made available for someone else. We are welcoming Sherryl Fitzpatrick as a new host for May 28, she will also provide the piano accompaniment for the jam, which will be led by Beth MacGillivray. We expect that it will be a different group of people in the past, but we'll follow much the same format as in the past - each participant can choose a tune, or a set of tunes from the RSJ list on the Tunes page. At the bottom of the table you will see tabs for slow jam sets, as well as a tab for the regular jam sets. Mostly we focus on the slow jam tunes, but you may also choose a tune from one of the sets on the other tab. There are mp3 and midi files to help you learn the tunes. Bring your music and a stand to read along, or you may choose to play by ear. Generally we play each tune/set three times, the first time quite slowly, the second time slightly faster and the third time faster yet (but still slower than you would hear at a pub session). There will be a break at 3:30 to stretch our legs and socialize a bit, BYOB and a snack if you like.

Sun. June 4- Pub Session - 2pm to 5pm. Open jam session at the Barley Mow, 1541 Merivale Rd. Everyone is welcome to join us for some down home Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton music. Fiddlers, guitarists, piano players, whatever - or just stop by to listen and chat with the friendly folk at the pub. A great way to make new friends who enjoy traditional music.

Sun. June 18- Pub Session - 2pm to 5pm.  Buy a beer for Dad day! Celebrate Father's Day with the whole family, and with us, at the Barley Mow, 1541 Merivale Rd. Did you know that kids eat for free on Sundays? With the game up on the screen and live Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton music on the floor Dad will have a great time! Fiddlers, guitarists, piano players, whatever  - all are welcome to join the jam - or just stop by to listen and chat with the friendly folk at the pub.
