Join a Social Group!

Social groups are a great way to make friends, learn a skill, join together in activities and be entertained.
There are plenty of opportunities in Darebin to spend the Winter months in good company and to feel connected.

Social Support Groups at Yanada House offer fun programs in a
supported social environment.  Our goal is to help participants to stay active and build friendships.

A new Wednesday Program is starting in July!
Choose from the following options:

  • Gentle Movement for Mind, Body and Spirit
  • Book Club
  • Local Café Lunches

My Aged Care referral for Social Support Group is needed, and fees apply.

Community Session on Preventing Elder Abuse

Rediscover what 'Respect for Elders' means in a session facilitated by Seniors Rights Victoria.
Elder abuse is mistreatment of an older person that is committed by someone with whom the older person has a relationship of trust. This can be a partner, family member, friend or carer. Elder abuse may be physical, social, financial, psychological or sexual and can include mistreatment and neglect. Elder maltreatment can lead to serious physical injuries and long-term psychological consequences. Sometimes family, friends and carers may not know that their actions amount to elder abuse.

We will discuss preventing elder abuse and support available if you or someone you know is experiencing elder abuse.

When: Friday 9 June, 2-3pm
Where: Darebin Intercultural Centre; 350 High St, Preston
Call 8470 8114 if you need support with transport and to RSVP.
