THIS SUNDAY'S WORSHIP
God's Wisdom for Healthy Relationships
1 Thessalonians 5:9–28

God's plan for us is to encourage one another and build one another up. Join us as we talk about this Christian Habit of All-In Disciples, which addresses how we live and work together as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Click here for the worship folders, to register your online worship and to link to the livestream.
IN OUR PRAYERS
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We pray for healing for
  • Amy Schlesselman, step-mother of Randall, who is seriously ill
  • Robert McNiel, who is recovering from surgery
  • Mel Nierdieck, for recovery of strength
  • Ron Solovic, who is recovering at home after a recent hospitalization.
We pray for our Vacation Bible School, which is fast approaching, that it may share God's love with many children and their families.

To request prayer, go to the Prayer Page on our website.  You can indicate if you want the prayers to be confidential or included in the Sunday prayers and/or the e-news. You also can sign up to be a Prayer Partner.
WELCOME DAVE GUEMMER

We welcome Dave Guemmer (pronounced "Gimmer") to St. Lucas!  Dave moved from DeSoto to the Benton Park neighborhood of St. Louis--quite a change.  He is transferring from Grace Lutheran Church, DeSoto.

Dave is a retired high school teacher and coach and continues to referee basketball and is currently rehabbing a house.  He and his wife Debbie keep busy with their grown children, grandchildren and even great - grandchildren.

Be sure to extend Dave a hearty welcome when you normally see him at the early service and Adult Bible Class.
COFFEE TAWLK on ENCOURAGEMENT
 This Sunday May 21, 9:15 a.m.

Please join us for the All-In Discipleship Coffee Tawlk discussion on Encouragement, this Sunday, May 21st at 9:15 a.m. in the gym at St. Lucas.  Hosted by Randall Schlesselman and Pastor Larson, it will be a casual, informal, and friendly discussion on what it means to be an All-In Encourager.  As always, there will be a light breakfast served!   You won't want to miss it!
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP PARENT'S MEETING
Sunday, May 21, 2023

We are excited to begin planning our Youth Fellowship meetings and events for the summer.  Seminarian Tyler Simmons will be heading up a meeting on Sunday, May 21, at St. Lucas immediately following the late service (approximately 11:45 a.m.).  All parents of youth are invited to attend.  We look forward to seeing you there!
WHAT SHOULD WE AS CHRISTIANS ENCOURAGE?

God’s Word calls us to encourage one another and to build each other up.   However, as we all struggle with our sinful nature, it may not be as easy as it sounds. God calls us to love and forgive each other but the devil is all too happy to sow discord, strife and even hatred in the church.

How do we practice the Christian habit of Encouragement in our lives?
  • By loving and forgiving each other
  • By having conversations that matter
  • By building one another up
  • By not going along with bad behavior
  • By handling personal concerns according to God’s good order
Learn more about how Encouragement works and what Jesus wants in His relationship with you by picking up a green All-In Discipleship folder in our narthex, or by going online at:   https://www.stlucaslcms.org/all-in/
RED HAT LUNCHEON
This Sunday May 21

All ladies - We will meet after the late service (approximately 11:30 a.m.) and head to El Catrin Mexican Restaurant.  This is only about a block from church so most will be able to walk there.  It would be wonderful if we had a large group - it is so much fun to fellowship with other ladies!  Feel free to bring others. They don't have to be members of St. Lucas to enjoy being together.
WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY
Mondays: 5/22, 6/12, 6/19, 6/26, 7/10
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

You were made for this moment” is a five-session video Bible study on the Book of Esther.  Come learn how the story of Esther inspires us to step up and stand out for God.  Let Mary Bartlow, billandmary@msn.com,  (314)-283-0049 know if you are interested in this study so she can make sure we have enough materials for everyone.
PRAYERS FOR OUR GRADUATES
Sunday, June 4, both services

On Sunday, June 4, we will recognize and pray for God's blessings for our high school and college graduates.  May God bless them in their vocations and keep them faithful their whole life through.

If you have such a graduate in your life, submit the information to the church office by May 31.  Please include, name, relationship to you, institution graduating from and future plans.
BUNCO
Thursday June 1, 6:30 p.m.

We will be playing Bunco in June, in the Multi Purpose Room. Come and bring a friend!  Men are welcome.

Our charity this month will be Marygrove.  It is a place where children, youth, and families in need have found hope and healing.  As one of the largest therapeutic residential treatment programs in the state, they provide a safe home, compassionate care, and high-quality mental health services to children who have experienced significant trauma to restore their childhood and equip them for productive adulthood.

They are requesting paper towels, toilet paper, bleach, shower caps, shampoo/conditioner, personal hygiene products, dryer sheets, board games (ages 10-18), playing cards, arts & crafts supplies and dish towels.

Some bring snacks to share.  Both snacks and donations are purely optional.

Please let Sharon Majoros, sharon.m3845@yahoo.com, know if you plan on attending.  Hope to see you June 1.  If you are not able to attend, but wish to donate, there is a black & white plaid tote in the back of church where you can put donations.
