Commander's Message

Attention MHV Members,

The Commerce City Memorial Day Parade participation by Mile Hi Veterans is taking great shape.  Thus far we have the Honor Guard, a float depicting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial listing all Coloradoan causalities, a motorcycle, and a scooter.  There will also be two trucks with seating in the bed for those who want to attend the parade but are unable to walk the route.

If you are attending, please sign up so we can plan appropriately.  Send me an email or text message indicating that you are participating and whether you will walk the route or prefer to ride.

Looking forward to hearing a yes from you.

Thanking you in advance,

Joe Davalos

The All of Us Research Program is a historic, longitudinal effort to gather data from one million or more people living in the United States to create a diverse health database that represents us all.

By taking into account individual differences in life circumstances, socioeconomics, environment, and biology, researchers may uncover paths toward delivering precision medicine – or individualized prevention, treatment, and care – for all of us.

This research is supported by National Institute of Health (NIH) along with other well-known groups such LULAC and the National Hispanic Nurses Association.

~ Al Muniz ~
Shawnee, Oklahoma !
Good morning all sorry for the late post. We are in Shawnee, Oklahoma heading to Forrest City, Arkansas today. Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Fort Salem. We were on our way to three Indian tribes, the Apache Kiowa, and Comanche tribe assembly.
The pictures you see are where we stopped at an elementary school in New Mexico.  We are carrying a flag across the nation, for the mother of a soldier who never returned from Vietnam. I carried the flag the second day and what you see is the transfer of the flag from me to the next guy that’s going to carry it for the day. The transfer will happen again this morning to the next person carrying the flag.
Also, see a picture of the staging crew and my new friends who are a bunch of great people.
My day starts at 0400 a.m., the staging crew are the first where the bikes will be staging for departure to our next destination. Once we have that done, we depart first to be at the next stop when the main body gets there and we stage them and it continues for a fuel and meal stop. We are really busy all day long. Some days we do not get to the motel until 7 or 8 p.m. at night.
I talked to the photographer about the pictures not being posted. He posted every day last year but like I said, by the time we get in and then he tries to push all the pictures he was working until midnight and then getting up at 4 o’clock in the morning. So no pictures other than when I send until after the ride is over.

Dia de Pesca - was a wonderful event. Thank you Loy Torrez for sharing this event with us. Robert Quinonez was very busy helping string the fishing poles for the kids. Sheila Perez-Kindle, Toby Rampa, Deana Gallegos and other MHV members also took family and friends to the event. Some, even caught fish!
