REMINDER Participate in the International Irish Traveller Day Campaign

Via Survey, Focus Group or Video

At the ITM AGM 2022 a motion was passed by members to support the International Irish Traveller Day by consulting with our community. Creating an Irish Traveller Day of celebration shall capture the key roles Travellers have played, remembering and honouring the accomplishments of Irish Travellers throughout history and today and to unit Travellers internationally as a community in pride.

Please take part in the consultation and help us choose the day, how it will be celebrated and a symbol/flag to represent Irish Travellers going forward:

  • Via the Online Survey: https://t.co/R6sY6KUgzE

  • As a Traveller Organisation, host a Consultation Focus Group using the survey questions and returning them to us,

  • Publish a video why you or your organisation think it is important to have an International Irish Traveller Day and share on social media using the hashtag #InternationalIrishTravellerDay.

Support the ITM Youth Team's Mapping Excercise

Take the survey now

SURVEY: Open until June

As part of ITM’s Traveller Youth Leadership and Participation Strategy the ITM Youth Team are carrying out a mapping exercise with our members and the youth sector
  • to find out where and how or even if young Travellers are being engaged with in local and national areas.
  • We are looking for sources and resources and support that may be in place or needed and
  • identify any initiatives contributing to meaningful participation and engagement of young Travellers.
Please share and fill in the surveyhttps://forms.gle/qcuJ2C2kZsCxxZQC8

In order to strengthen participation, practice and Traveller inclusion it is vital to identify projects working with young Travellers, identify areas where young Travellers do not have access to youth provision and why. We want to identify good practice examples both of work with young Travellers and involvement of young Travellers in decision-making to find out what is working and why.

If you have any questions please contact Karen Power at Karen@itmtrav.ie or Rose Marie Maughan at RoseMarie@itmtrav.ie.

About LGBTIQ+ Travellers

Wexford LGBTQIA+ Pride invites you to Picnic in the Park

Traveller organisations kindly invited to participate

EVENT: 27th May

Pride in the Park in Wexford is a family friendly LGBTQIA+ celebration held in Min Ryan Park, Wexford Town on 27th May. The day is full of vendors, community organisations, food, music, and performances. There is a main stage with live acts and over 20 vendors. No politicians or political parties are offered time to make speeches, as this is a time for the community to celebrate. Similarly they work hard to keep the guards away, and to create a safe space for all of the LGBT+ community. They have their own small band of in-community safety volunteers who will be keeping an eye on things. There is zero room for any racism or discrimination.

Community organisations are offered space free of charge, and Traveller organisations are particularly welcomed!

Wexford LGBTQIA+ Pride hopes you will consider being a part of this magical day: "We fully believe in the importance of including, openly and proudly, historically marginalised groups."
