As the heat and drought erodes the yields in the Swartland - the other side of the coin is the quality is better than ever...

Enter David & Nadia label from the heart of the Swartland. If ever there was a match made in heaven it's with these two. David is born and bred in the Swartland and probably moved straight to Syrah at birth, and Nadia is a qualified soil specialist and viticulturist.

The over-arching creed? Focus on the soils, mountain terrain and bush vines.

The result? A stunning range of wines that echo Rhone but with a basic African baseline that is exceptional and totally addictive.

Their Old Vine Series of ancient, single vineyard Chenin Blancs are renowned  the world over for their impossible scarcity almost as much as whats inside the bottle. The entire Singapore allocation of 6 bottles each are here today and will almost certainly be gone tomorrow.

Another tasty prospect are the David & Nadia Topography Series Pinotage and Semillon 2018`s. Again these have only just been released and are in extremely short supply.

The Wines:
David & Nadia Aristargos White Blend 2021 (WM 95)
(Chenin blanc (49%), Clairette blanche (9%), Sémillon (8%), Grenache blanc (7%), Roussanne (7%), Verdelho (6%), Viognier (6%), Marsanne (4%), Colombar (4%))

The Aristargos 2021 is yet again predominantly both Chenin blanc and Old Vines driven (Chenin blanc, Sémillon, Clairette blanche and Colombar), and the focus remains on the granitic soils of the Paardeberg.

This is the value play...

David & Nadia Chenin Blanc 2021 (WM 96)

'This wine, incorporating grapes from seven separate vineyards on various soils with planting dates ranging from 1968 to 1985, just gets more and more refined. The nose shows pear, peach and citrus to go with potpourri and a touch of flinty reduction. The palate, meanwhile, is pure and concentrated with lively acidity and a saline finish. Each component part combining seamlessly, the end-result is a wine of particular poise and luminosity.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 96/100.

David & Nadia Topography Pinotage 2018 (TA 93)

Delicate on the nose, with herb infused notes of dark berries and a hint of cassis, the palate is lifted and energetic, with chalky tannins, and a floral perfume. The finish is long and saline: this is a delicious red, at just 12.5% abv. (TA 93)

David & Nadia Topography Semillon 2018 (TA 92)

"To make up for the variety's comparatively low acidity in the Swartland, David and Nadia Sadie used seven days of skin contact on this old-vine Semillon, produced for the first time in 2018. Elegant, bready and showing some tannic structure, it's a promising début from this brilliant couple." - Tim Atkin MW, South African Special Report 2019. TA 92/100
