Our Vision Statement

Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish is a safe community of love, who believes in the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives, and forms disciples who bring people to Jesus.

As a disciple that belongs to our community I commit to grow by worshipping, learning, connecting, serving, giving and making disciples.

The Ascension of the Lord

“I am praying for them…”JOHN 17:9

Prayer is the foundation of our Faith and the foundation of Stewardship. Prayer is always the first best option in any situation - not just our last resort. Pray for friends and family, and especially for those that don’t treat you very well. Pray to give praise, to thank, and to ask God for help .Pray to see what God wants you to do with the gifts He has given you. Teach others how to pray. It has been said that teaching someone how to pray is the best gift you can give someone.

Join Our Lady of the Southern Cross Catholic Parish staff team and make a positive impact in our community! We are currently seeking two people to fill vital positions within our Parish. If you are passionate about your faith, serving others and would like to be part of a welcoming and supportive team, we invite you to apply for the Parish Manager and Evangelisation and Pastoral Associate roles.

To find out more about these exciting opportunities, please reach out to Fr Baiyi Gong at pp.springfield@bne.catholic.net.au. Applications close on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
The parish started the practice of communion from the chalice. Those unwell should refrain from the chalice or receiving communion on the tongue.

On June 11, the Feast of Corpus Christi, join with over 4000 other Catholics making a public testimony of faith by walking in a Eucharistic procession through the streets of Brisbane city. It will be a colourful display as groups gather from all across the Archdiocese of Brisbane to represent their parish or cultural community. Please get in touch with Gloria on 0407 652 633 if you want to join the procession and represent our parish.

The Corpus Christi Procession will start and end at the Cathedral of St Stephen and feature prayers, rosary, hymns and Benediction with proceedings led by Archbishop Mark Coleridge. For more info, head to
https://www.corpuschristibrisbane.com/

A Petition Book will be placed at the back of the church for recording prayer intentions. During the celebration, representatives from our parish will be invited to bring this book forward to the feet of our Lord.
As we approach Pentecost Sunday on 28 May, we encourage all parishioners to celebrate the birthday of the Church by wearing something red at each of our weekend Mass services. It could be your top, a dress, shirt, scarf or even the whole ensemble. Whatever item or shade of red you wear, it will surely be a profound sign of the Holy Spirit’s vibrant presence in our parish.
Archbishop Mark has recently published a document entitled "With Lamps Ablaze: Apostolic Priorities for the Archdiocese of Brisbane from 2023" which outlines seven priorities for the Archdiocese. Here is the sixth priority, "Implementing Integral Ecology". To read the full document, visit tinyurl.com/lampsablaze

Every week Fr Baiyi invites us to learn and commit to memory a biblical quote from the Sunday’s Gospel reading. This is a beautiful way to get to know the Bible better and to share our faith with others.
