Cosy season is here! –  Check out what’s on this winter in Perth Hills Armadale
E-news from the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre
June 2023
Welcome to Makuru
Welcome to the Makuru season known as winter (season of fertility).

Makuru is also a time for animals to be pairing up in preparation for breeding in the coming season. Wardongs (ravens) will often fly together and if you live near a lake you may notice an influx of Mali (black swans), which will also be preparing to breed. This season, flowers will also start to emerge including the blues and purples of the Blueberry Lilly (Dianella revoluta) and the Purple Flags (Patersonia occidentalis). Towards the end of July, the Weeping Peppermint (Agonis Flexuosa) will also begin to bloom.

Dark blue is used to symbolise the Makuru season since it represents rain and the chilly weather. The coldest and wettest part of the year in Makuru begins in full force in June and July.

Experience the winter beauty of the Perth Hills Armadale region in the Makuru season! Get your coats ready and don’t miss out on what’s coming up!
