MEET THE CAMP SQUAD: JOE, BREA + KENNA
We're so excited about the team of ~40 all-around experts we've put together to teach, inspire, and care for our campers this summer at Amplify. So, of course we want to tell the world about them! Meet beloved camp veteran JOE, who returns this summer as VOCALS INSTRUCTOR 🎤 but also...our brand-new A CAPPELLA IMMERSIVE COACH!!

"I have always loved camp. I received a scholarship to join a local camp for playing violin and was a developing violinist there, but the camp music director made music accessible and fun so it wouldn’t be so hard or scary for me. I have always loved that teachers have inspired me to be inclusive, patient, and fun with everything I do, so I became one! I earned my degree in music education with vocal emphasis and am currently teaching elementary general music, violin, and directing musicals for younger voices. My time in college included being part of so many choirs and even an a cappella group! As a music educator, I love to make music accessible, enjoyable, educational, intentional, authentic, and inspirational for students of all ages.

I’m so happy to be part of Amplify: they have values of making camp accessible for campers who need extra support, helping campers achieve greatness through group and independent work, and using restorative practices to build strong mentorship relationships. All these things and more are the reasons I keep coming back every summer to be part of the wonderful environment that Amplify has to offer.

Can’t wait to meet many of you to talk about Beyoncé, voice philosophies, history of a cappella and more!"
Meet beloved camp veteran BREA, who returns this summer as COUNSELOR (music emphasis 🎵🤘)

"Hi! My name is Brea, and I’m a music counselor here at Amplify! When I’m not at camp, I am a recording/touring artist based out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

I feel so grateful that I’m able to share my knowledge and experiences with the next generation of amazing artists, and in return I gain totally new creative perspectives thanks to the campers! There’s just nothing like the community here at Amplify, and I can’t wait for another summer ❤️"
Meet KENNA, who's been an Amplify camper for years and finally joins us this summer as COUNSELOR 😎

"Hi! My name is Kenna Mueller and I have been involved with Amplify since I was 11; however, this is my first year as a counselor. Amplify has helped me find a love and passion for music and I cannot wait to share that experience with more youth.

On top of that, Amplify has always been a place that encourages self expression and I always feel free to be my authentic self. I am most excited to create new, rockin' memories this summer with everyone, and I cannot wait to have an amazing time!"

SYRYN RECORDS UPDATE
In case you didn't know, Syryn Records is our youth-run record label and internship program, and it is beyond rad. Women and gender-expansive humans are grossly missing from the music industry: we recently represented only 2% of producers, 12% of songwriters, and 13% of GRAMMY nominees. When we’re lucky enough to be included, we’re often commodified—not taken seriously as leading artists or decision makers. SYRYN RECORDS is here to change this bummer of a status quo.

It's been enjoying a well-deserved vacation and makeover this year, but don't worry—this important program ain't goin' nowhere! We'll be running the NEXT SYRYN COHORT in winter/spring 2024, which means applications to intern (or be a featured artist!!) will open THIS FALL. Questions in the meantime? Hit us anytime! jen@amplifyartsproject.org, (805) 699-5247

WHAT HEALTH MEANS TO US @ CAMP
Our staff are ROBUSTLY TRAINED to ensure everyone at camp stays safe, healthy, and perhaps above all HYDRATED while challenging themselves and having a blast. Our homemade food is delicious and nutritious (thank you, kitchen staff—we love you), plus we have not one, not 2, but 3+ FULL-TIME STAFF whose sole focus at camp (and most of their overall academic/professional experience) is kids' physical/emotional HEALTH + WELLNESS. We're also very proud of our meticulously stocked health center, where health/wellness staff can always be found.

Our programming is designed to encourage campers to build resilience, learn and develop life skills, and explore independence while maintaining the structure and supervision (like, actually 24/7 STAFF SUPERVISION...we're always within ear- or eye-shot 😉) necessary for a safe, enjoyable summer. Campers are responsible for their dorm rooms, which are checked for cleanliness/basic safety every morning and night. All buildings and facilities are maintained daily by campus housekeeping staff, including regular sanitizing and ventilation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we've made a number of important changes to keep our community safer from communicable diseases of all shapes + sizes. If you want to talk details about what that looks like day to day and activity to activity at camp, let's absolutely talk: jen@amplifyartsproject.org, (805) 699-5247.
