Women in Tech: Rising to New Heights

Our students in the Women in Tech (WiT) program presented their projects and showcased their hard work on the WiT Demo Days (May 12 and May 14).

On the Demo Days, we had the opportunity to view 18 remarkable women presenting their final project, each addressing real-life issues with innovative solutions. This outcome truly reflects the hard work and dedication the students showed throughout the spring semester. Despite facing challenges like the earthquake in Turkey and the bombing in Gaza, these students showcased their incredible talent.

Our Success Is Because of You!

In December 2022, we asked for your help to enroll 18 women in the spring 2023 Women in Tech program. Guess what? 18 incredible women completed the program with outstanding final projects, new career opportunities, and the feeling of accomplishment. Your belief in us allowed these pioneers in our program to exceed our expectations and create new opportunities for themselves and their families. We couldn't be happier or more grateful. Thank you for your kindness and support. Together we are making a difference worldwide.

Our growth continues as Paper Airplanes is now working with university clubs at various participating colleges and universities to create on-campus chapters of Paper Airplanes. Living up to our name, our programs are descending onto campuses worldwide and taking off virtually. We can't believe our success in 2023!

As summer approaches, we are gearing up for our biggest back-to-school drive ever! Soon we will send you updates about fun virtual and in-person events we'll be hosting throughout the year.

A Month in Review: Paper Airplanes' Activities and Achievements

English Program

The first cycle of the spring 2023 semester is ending on May 28, and students are taking their final exams. The English program announced the applications for volunteer tutors for its Fall 2023 semester, if you are interested in joining us, please fill the form

In addition, we were pleased to receive 1608 applications, during May, after opening the general Students application form for the upcoming semester - fall 2023. Our students’ confidence in us pushes us to work harder for them each semester.

Professional Skills Development Program

Our Students in the Professional Skills Development (PSD) program are completing their assignments and submitting their business presentations. The presentation is an email that the student sends to the PSD team to apply for an imaginary job or scholarship. PSD team members are busy evaluating the students' presentations and preparing their feedback. We wish our students success, and we hope that their experience with us will be a catalyst for them to move towards a prosperous future.

Paper Airplanes celebrated Teacher’s National Appreciation Day by thanking and showing appreciation to all our teachers for making this world a better place for us all. 

Tutor of the Month

A heartfelt thanks to our amazing volunteer tutor Darcy Weaver.

Darcy Weaver has over 15 years of experience in technical assistance, project delivery and scale-up of domestic and global sexual and reproductive health and rights initiatives. Darcy is the Associate Director for AMAZE International and is responsible for expanding global partnerships and commitments. Her work with international NGOs includes capacity building initiatives to enhance the quality of comprehensive sexuality education delivery, improving evaluation mechanisms and expanding interventions to reach young people both in and out of formal education. In addition, she has extensive experience in managing large-scale STI and HIV prevention, testing and support services. Darcy holds masters’ degrees in both Public Health and Public Administration.

With Paper Airplanes Darcy started teaching our speaking classes in fall 2020.
Your dedication and support have made a profound impact on our students’ lives. You have empowered them with valuable skills that will help them achieve their goals! We are grateful for your efforts in building bridges through language. Thank you for being part of Paper Airplanes!

We celebrated the small steps that have led us to the world we know today. Thanks to the internet, Paper Airplanes now provides all their services online, and we are able to reach thousands of students around the world each year.
