Dear members, donors, sponsors and community members:

Pride month is once more upon us, and although we should celebrate our accomplishments and our identities louder than ever, we must also step up and fight for our rights—especially the rights of our trans community—and demand that our allies do the same. It is essential that we show up and vote at the polls, we must write and call our elected officials, to the extent we can be our true authentic selves in all walks of life—we must be out—and we must support the organizations that are fighting every single day to make sure that the rights we fought so hard for are not stripped away.

We cannot thank all of you enough for all the support we have received since May 8th, when Clayton Morgan, the President of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA), cancelled the NCBA’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee’s (SOGI) networking drag trivia event. Our community and allies have stepped up and made it possible for us to put on this event and raise funds for our Lavender Law Scholarship. The show will go on at the same time and location, with the same DJ and drag performers. However, it will now also be a loud message to the NCBA Board of Governors, executive team and President that our community will not stay silent when our culture and identities are attacked.

(PLEASE NOTE BY THE TIME YOU CLICK THIS, WEWILL LIKELY BE SOLD OUT)

(EMAIL US FOR A SPONSORSHIP DECK)

However, not only have you made it possible for us to host this event, but several of you have also worked hard to ensure that the NCBA hears our voices. You have written letters, signed on to SOGI’s resolutions, made phone calls to other legal professionals letting them know about the NCBA’s actions, called and spoken to the media to make sure that these actions are not swept under a rug, you have created a system that allows us to track who we’ve contacted to help spread the word and get as many signatures in support of SOGI’s resolutions, you have called and emailed us to ask how you can help and you asked your law firms to also step up.

(YOUR DONATION HELPS US OFFSET THE COST OF THE EVENT AND SEND A LOUDER MESSAGE TO THE NCBA)

Finally, because we know the vital role that CLEs play in our legal community, we have sponsored Union County Pride’s 2023 Intersectional Dynamic Pride: Diversity and Disability Conference, which will allow them to offer up to 10.5 hours of CLE credit. This sponsorship is possible through our general funds from our membership fees. The conference will take place June 15th and 16th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with both an in-person and virtual option. We hope that our members take advantage of this sponsorship and also support Union County Pride in all the work they are doing.

WE CANNOT WAIT TO SEE SOME OF YOU IN PERSON ON JUNE 8th!!
