Sunday, June 11th - "From Power to Pride" - Rev. Tracy Johnson
June is Pride month, and history has seen a trajectory from "Gay Power" to "Gay Pride." What happens as we make that shift in understanding, both personally and as a movement?
Greeters: Priscilla and Bonnie

Sunday, June 18th - "This Is What Democracy Looks Like" - Rev. Tracy Johnson
June 18th is our Annual Meeting at UUMH and we come together on the brink of our Association's General Assembly. As we involve ourselves in the democratic process I am wondering about the meaning of democracy in our lives. Please share your thoughts with me via email by June 12th!

Gathering on Osprey Point
Monday, June 19th at 5 PM
It’s almost summer and, therefore, almost time for Osprey Point! Open to all women connected to the Meeting House. We meet at Osprey Point once a month on Monday evenings at 5 PM for an hour or so. Bring your lawn chair and your dinner/snack/whatever, and join new and long-time friends. It is a beautiful, peaceful place that we usually have to ourselves. Call Sue Bauer (945-3264) for more information. Sue will send out a reminder email a few days ahead, so it would be good to email her that you plan to attend. - ralphb1234@cs.com
PS/ Osprey Point will be found on no map or through any Google search. That’s because we named it – for obvious reasons, as you will see. Directions: Forest Beach Road off Route 28 in South Chatham. Go .4 miles to a left turn on Bay View. Straight ahead and up a short hill. And there you are.

Cape's Juneteenth Celebrations
to Highlight Democracy, Diversity, and Myth in the Wake of the Mayflower

The Cape Cod Branch of the NAACP and Zion Union Heritage Museum will present three screenings of a newly released film about Cape Cod’s people of color as part of the Cape’s upcoming Juneteenth celebrations. JOURNEYS IN THE LIGHT, Democracy, Diversity, and Myth in the Wake of the Mayflower will be shown at the Wellfleet Library on Tuesday, June 13, at 7 PM; the Cape Cod Museum of Art on Friday, June 16 at 1 PM; and the Provincetown UU Meeting House on Saturday, June 17, at 1 PM. The screenings are free to the public (in the case of CCMoA, free with paid admission to the museum) and will be followed by Q & A with the filmmaker and NAACP and Zion representatives. The film’s creators look beyond the iconic Euro-centric Mayflower story to present highlights in the history of the African American, Cape Verdean, and Wampanoag people in this region since the arrival of the English settlers in 1620. They find in the Mayflower Compact, and antecedents in Native American governance, powerful relevance for the divided America of today. JOURNEYS IN THE LIGHT tells its tale through the eyes, historical research, and works of art of the vibrant community surrounding Zion Union Heritage Museum in Hyannis, MA.

We also need volunteers to provide simple nibbles. Email Pavia: senorasangria@gmail.com

Social Justice Community Outreach for June
Homeless Prevention Council Backpack to School Program
In June we will collect for Homeless Prevention Council's Backpack to School Program. Backpacks equipped with school supplies not only bring joy to children, but also give relief to financially stressed households coping with inflationary increases in food, rent, and utilities. You may donate money to purchase supplies or bring in supplies that you have purchased.
