Dear Running Niche Friends,
We opened our shop on May 1, 2018, which means we are 5 years in already. Time flies when you’re having fun! On Saturday June 10 we’ll celebrate our 5-year anniversary. And here we are today closing in a new location with double the space! Our community is very uplifting including our 55+ Team Running Niche runners who we coach using the Lydiard System to our fun Wednesday night group runs. And who would have thought we would earn Top 50 Best Running Stores in America 3 years running now! These 5 have been a wild ride. Who knows what the next 5 will bring but we promise you we’re going to keep on doing what we do here at Running Niche.

- We will also donate 10% of the days sales to the WashU Bear Cubs Running Team. Bears Cubs is an integral program that began back in 2015 to meet the needs of inclusion, family support, and improved health of children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Founded at WashU, Bear Cubs is a university-based program that improves the lives of children, their siblings, and parents, through free weekly athletic practices at Bushyhead Track. The student-athlete groups involved with Bear Cubs Running are the Cross Country and Track & Field Teams. Bear Cubs serves families in the Greater St. Louis area and the program welcomes children with ASD ages 5-15 and their neurotypical siblings. An additional benefit of Bear Cubs is introducing families to a wide network of other families with shared experiences.

Focus On: Team Running Niche
We want to shine a light on several Team Runner Niche accomplishments in the month of May. It started with Adam Walker and Matt Lobdell racing in the USATF 25K National Championships in Grand Rapids, MI. Adam placed 8th overall in 1:19:05, passing the 13.1-mile mark in a PR 1:06:27. Matt ran 1:30:53 for 26th overall, passing 13.1 in 1:17:02. Bree Gaster took 2nd place in the Green Bay Marathon in a new PR 2:53:29. Most impressive was her 6:07 last mile and 2:49 last half mile to move from 4th to 2nd. All these athletes follow Lydiard Training. And last but certainly not least is Michael Hagmeier. Last weekend was his 65th birthday so he decided to walk 65 miles. He actually hit 66.75 miles but get this, he averaged 14:59 per mile! Michael walked the Katy Trail starting at the N. Jefferson Trail Head and ending at Marthasville. Congrats to all these folks on their outstanding accomplishments.

Group Runs
 Join us every Wednesday at 6:30 for a 3-mile group social run/walk. Every second Wednesday of the month will be our “Beer Run”, featuring a cooler stocked with beverages for some post-run social time. All paces are welcome, runners and walkers. Generally, 35-50 folks come and there is a wide variety of paces. We put folks into groups such as 7:00 pace, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 and walkers.
