We wanted to make you aware of a recent Marin IJ article that shed more light on the longstanding issues with the Ross Valley Charter school (RVC).

The lack of demand for the education program they offer, combined with continued financial instability was always going to lead to the failure of the school. These issues include:

RVC has never reached their target enrollment, relying on loan after loan to keep the doors open, and RVC is now in a position where they are forced to cut services and staff to survive.

RVC’s balance sheet is already in the negative, showing the downwards trend since June 2022 and solely relying on loans for reserves.

Schools receive money based on daily attendance and their attendance is abysmal and contributes to their financial problems.
Supporting your local public school over a charter supports the community. Please encourage your friends and families with school age children to attend their local public school.

Our local public school district Ross Valley School District (RVSD) has just approved a teacher salary increase and offers programs that support all types of learning styles.

The Lagunitas School District has restructured its program, creating a new and exciting community school for West Marin.
