DFI’s Traveling Lecturer is gearing up to hit the road. Jesús Gómez, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, is available Sept. 1, 2023 – Aug. 31, 2024, to present lectures to university students, professional groups and industry associations.

Following are the topics available for the 2023-2024 traveling lecture series:

Exploration, Design and QA/QC for Rigid Inclusion Projects
Dos and Don’ts in Lateral Stabilization of Soils Using Deep Foundation Elements

New Co-chair of Tunneling and Underground Committee

Join us in welcoming Renée L. Fippin, P.E., G.E., principal engineer at Delve Underground in California, as the co-chair of DFI's Tunneling and Underground Committee. Her expertise spans both geotechnical and structural engineering, including a thorough background in the design of shafts and tunnels, and with investigation and evaluation of new tunnels as well as existing tunnels for rehabilitation.

Special Issue on Subsurface Characterization

Read the May/June issue of Deep Foundations - a special issue on Subsurface Characterization. Articles highlight considerations for site investigation for the design and construction of deep foundations, helping to increase awareness of the importance of complete and competent site investigation in deep foundation practices.

Dec. 1: Request for Proposals for the 2024 DFI Committee Project Fund program are due. Keep in mind that proposals must be endorsed by a DFI committee, and most committees require draft proposals by Sept. 1.
