Call for Evidence - HSE
The UK HSE (Health and Safety Executive) is initiating a Regulatory Management Options Analysis (RMOA) to examine exposure of the public to formaldehyde in indoor settings.
In addition to articles that have the potential to release formaldehyde, HSE are interested to understand the levels of formaldehyde that can be generated in indoor settings from processes which can release formaldehyde such as cooking, use of candles and indoor domestic combustion such as woodburning stoves and ethanol fires. This call for evidence aims to gather information on formaldehyde emissions / concentrations in indoor environments (homes, schools, offices, public places) and evidence that will support the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the UK Health and Security Agency (UKHSA) with the preparation of this RMOA.
The call for evidence is now live (closes 25th June) and more information be accessed
here.
Building Centre Retrofit Exhibitions and Talks:
The Building Centre in London are running an exhibition ‘Retrofit 23: Towards a Deep Retrofit of Homes at Scale’. The exhibition ‘looks at how we achieve residential retrofitting at scale and focuses on how improving the performance of a home brings economic, social, and environmental benefits’, and will run until 29th September 2023 In addition to the displays, there are a series of both online and in-person free talks (throughout June, July and September) concerning topics such as retrofitting historic homes, reflecting on retrofit performance over ten years, and breathable insulation and healthy air quality. You can find information about the exhibition
here and the talks
here.
CAN - Clean Air Networks Conference:
Registration is now closed for the CAN conference. If you are keen to attend, you can still be added to the waiting list, so please contact us if this is the case for you. The conference (5-6th July 2023) will celebrate and reflect upon the work of the networks over the past few years, as well as looking ahead to the future role networks play in air quality research.
We are excited to confirm keynote speakers Professor Roy Harrison (University of Birmingham) and Professor Anna Hansell (University of Leicester) for each day of the conference, respectively. Invited speakers across the conference programme have now been confirmed and it is great to see lots of HEICCAM representation. There is more information about the conference
here.
Atmospheric Science Letters Special Editions:
Atmospheric Science Letters are running a special issue focusing on `Air Pollution at the Indoor-Outdoor interface for Built Environments.’ They are calling for papers considering (but not limited to) the following topics: modelling of transport processes and dispersion of air pollutants (biological and manmade contaminants) within or across indoor and outdoor environments; the influence of source type and location on individual or population air pollution exposures; the relationship of behaviour /activity to levels of indoor and outdoor pollution exposure; the influence of indoor/outdoor environmental conditions on the development and transport of localized air pollution plumes; and the relationship of indoor and outdoor urban environments to the air pollution exposure of different vulnerable populations.
You can find more information on the call for papers
here.
Recent publications by network members:
If you are publishing work that you think the rest of the network may be interested in, please feel free to send us a link once it is available online!
