Hawai‘i Island police seek suspect in Kona theft investigation
On April 18 at about 10:24 a.m., it was reported that an unidentified male entered a Kailua-Kona business in the at 73-5000 block of Olowalu Street and stole numerous items. The suspect then fled the area in a silver four-door sedan.
Big Island man among victims identified in fentanyl deaths at Waikīkī hotel
Steven Berengue, 53 of Kailua-Kona, was identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office as one of the two people who died. Berengue was found Sunday after emergency responders were called to the Outrigger Reef Waikīkī Beach Resort at around midnight about a possible overdose with multiple victims.
Update: Kīlauea erupting; confined to Halemaʻumaʻu crater with 200-foot fountain bursts
As of 9 a.m. on Wednesday, no unusual activity has been noted along Kīlauea’s East Rift Zone or Southwest Rift Zone, with the eruption contained within Halemaʻumaʻu Crater and entirely within Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.
