Remembering and appreciating Namgyal Rinpoche

With Special Guests from Canada coming to the Wangapeka

We are thrilled to announce that Terry Hagan and Mala Sikka will be visiting the Wangapeka (October 20 - 23rd 2023). They will be a key part of the Labour Weekend Celebration of the extraordinary life and legacy of Namgyal Rinpoche.

Terry was Namgyal's assistant for close to 30 years. Both he and Mala have committed their lives to Dharma and have been practicing meditation for over 40 years. You can read more about Terry and Mala here.

It will be exactly 20 years since Namgyal Rinpoche's passing October 11 (1931) — October 22 (2003) and we want to warmly invite you to join us for this very special long weekend (children welcome).

Details of the planned programme of activities  and how to register will follow. For more information contact jane.hobday17@gmail.com

Sunrise Online Sit

a community practice invitation

Kia ora everyone,

We are holding a 30-minute community meditation practice online, four days a week, 6am - 6:30am NZT. We would like to invite anyone from the wider Wangapeka community to join us if you would like the support and solidarity of sitting together.

The session starts and ends with a prayer. This is a silent endeavour, but if you would like some meditation instruction, please include this request in your email. All suggestions are welcome. The start time of 6am may seem early, but it gets easier the more you do it!

Please email Louise Perzigian for the link or more details.

Wangapeka Garden Working Bee - A Dana Event

Will be held on the weekend of 14th-16th July

John Massey is offering to lead this opportunity for us to offer dana to the garden at Wangapeka.

It will be weather dependent so please register your intention to come with John and keep up to date with any changes.

The key focus will be working with compost - the living force that accepts dana from the kitchen along with other goodies and in turn gifts nourishment to so many beings - including our sangha. We will be turning the compost that's been 'creatively composing or decomposing' over the past few months, and then starting another bin on its journey back to the soil.

And there may well be other garden work depending on time available.

Garden activities will start mid-morning on Saturday.  If you would like to come Friday please come after 4 pm - there is a retreat finishing earlier on Friday so there needs to be some time between the two events. Otherwise you may like to arrive bright and early on Saturday morning.

There will be time for practice and socialising, and those who would like to continue with the garden work are welcome to stay on for Sunday as well.

This will be a 'group volunteer' event so please bring food to share. We will prepare meals together. There is no charge for staying, just the expectation that all facilities are left clean and tidy.

And please bring some food for the compost - maybe horse manure or something similar!

For more information please contact John Massey 027234 8561 yogaia10@gmail.com
