Spring has Sprung and Summer is almost here!
I want to tell you, our customers, how grateful I am for your continued support
and patronage. There have been many challenges and Just Jameen
continues to move forward and upward despite the numerous supply chain
challenges many small businesses face.
I personally have had to make some adjustments and after 18 years, one thing for sure is as we grow older our health issues intermix with our business life. I am asking for your prayers as I continue to service customers with the help and assistance of Terisita Anderson and Kiara Morgan. They have done a phenomenal job in keeping Just Jameen going when I am not able to be in Michigan and will keep it going as I heal in the next few weeks. Your support is important. I want to thank those who kept me in their prayers and thoughts and reached out to offer assistance. I am on the mend.
I had time to think some changes through during this down time. One thing we will bring back is our hair and nail serum treatment. It takes a while to pull it together and will be sold in limited quantities. We will announce it later in
June or early July. We have discontinued some of our sizes of Luxury spray
due to rising cost. But on the good side, we are planning Just Jameen pop ups and hope to have a list of events in the next 30 days. Some will be
partnerships with local organizations as we begin the process of becoming a
non-profit entity. We are also in the midst of creating new scents this year.
Greater Metro Detroit Lions Club continues to support the Continuing
Education Scholarship in partnership with The Association for the
Advancement of Deaf/Hard of Hearing (AADHH). This will be our fourth year. Applications for this scholarship will be available in late June.
We also partner with four other deaf resource organizations to adopt families
with deaf children or parents during the holiday season. I also help coordinate
a statewide scholarship for Deaf/Hard of Hearing through the Lions of
Michigan State office.
The Lions Hearing Center Love-Peel Scholarship has given over seventy
scholarships since 2008. Applications for 2024 will be available in the fall. Look for District 11-A1' s Communication Day event on June 24th from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
This event brings information to the community about Deaf/Hard of Hearing and

In 2021, Juneteenth became recognized as a federal holiday in the United States. For some Americans, it’s a new holiday to learn more about. But for many Black families and communities across the nation, it’s a well-known time to celebrate liberation, culture and joy.
What is Juneteenth?
In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared a formal end to slavery in the United States. However, change was not instant after the proclamation. Nearly two and a half years later, on June 19th, 1865, the enslaved African Americans of Galveston, Texas got the news by way of the Union army troops that freedom had come at last.
Why is the holiday called Juneteenth? The name blends the month and the day this news reached the people of Galveston: “June” plus “nineteenth” is Juneteenth. It’s also often called Emancipation Day or Freedom Day.

The History of Father's Day
The history of Father’s Day goes back to 1908, when a church in West
Virginia held a sermon to honor 362 men who had been killed the
previous year in a coal mining explosion. This was the country’s first-
ever event to strictly honor fathers, but it was just a one-and-done thing, at least in that community.
The following year, however, a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd
started her quest to establish Father’s Day as a national holiday.
Dodd was one of six children raised by their single father, and she
thought fathers should be honored in the same way as mothers.
