Sustainability Victoria at Melbourne Design Week

We know that creative thinking about the future of ‘waste’ is one of the ways Victoria will reach its target of net zero emissions by 2045 and transition to a circular economy.

Melbourne Design Week participants explored the power of creative thinking for sustainability at events led by CEBIC and SV Lab. They built handheld devices from e-waste and thought about how we, as businesses or individuals, can design products, materials, and services to avoid waste and retain materials at their maximum value.

Kmart delivers clothing circularity report

Kmart was funded by CEBIC’s Circular Economy Business Support Fund to deliver the Unlocking Clothing Circularity in Australia report. The research, which has informed systemic policy approaches, was given to the Australian Fashion Council to help it develop its National Clothing Product Stewardship Scheme

Coreprêt: Exploring slow fashion and low-impact design

Coreprêt is a Melbourne-based fashion business and innovator in the slow fashion space. The label consciously designs and creates garments using low-impact principles with the entire garment life cycle in mind and a goal to closing the loop. Their words of advice for businesses striving to be sustainable is to stay true to your values.

Coreo helps businesses go circular

Coreo is a circular economy consultancy helping organisations big and small transition to circular practices. Thanks to funding from CEBIC’s Circular Economy Business Support Fund it has advised the QV shopping centre in Melbourne’s CBD on how to cut waste and reduce emissions.

Online course: Visual Thinking for Sustainability

Complex sustainability topics can be hard to communicate. Drawing and illustration can be used to normalise and explain sustainability and circularity principles that get translated into action. This workshop is for those who want to develop their drawing and visual thinking skills for greater impact in sustainability communications.

Planet Ark Circularity Conference call for speakers

Australian Circular Economy Hub will present the Planet Ark Circularity Conference in Melbourne on 20 and 21 November 2023. They're looking for speakers who can delve into circular principles and the current landscape, and transfer practical industry insights into sustainable systems for a wide range of business models.
