Second Saturday is June 10

BeaconArts launched the very first Second Saturday in November 2002. For 20+ years, this city-wide celebration of arts, music, and culture has been drawing visitors to Beacon. Each second Saturday of the month there are special events, art gallery openings, artist receptions, culinary tastings and more. This is a family friendly event and everyone's invited!

Check out our list of Second Saturday events here. If you're a gallery and want to be included in our Second Saturday promotions — being part of our listings and Instagram posts — be sure to fill out this form each month with details and photos of your event. Deadline is the last day of each month (sorry, no exceptions), so please submit your July 2023 events now. Priority is given to BeaconArts members. And if you'd like to join BeaconArts as an artist, gallery or business member, details can be found here.

Visit an art gallery and get your hand stamped!

Get your hand stamped at any one of the participating art galleries to receive special offers and discounts from local businesses. Be sure to follow @beacon2ndsaturday on Instagram to get the latest updates. If you're a business that would like to offer a Second Saturday deal, please DM @beacon2ndsaturday and be sure to include your email address and a photo to be used for the social media post on your deal.

🚨🚨🚨 New gallery alert!

BeaconArts members Frank and Asia Mesa are opening ChangoLife Arts, a new Cuban art gallery in Ethan Cohen's KuBe Art Center in Beacon. ChangoLife Arts’ first exhibition, “Seres Imperfectos” (Imperfect Beings), will run from June 24 through December 27 at Gallery 308 in the KuBe Art Center. An opening reception for the public is scheduled for June 24 from 6 to 8 pm. A portion of all proceeds from gallery sales will go to humanitarian aid for the Cuban people through the Centro Martin Luther King in Havana, Cuba.

Beacon Open Studios is July 21-23

Registration is now open for Beacon Open Studios 2023! Artists can visit the Beacon Open Studios site, select your participation tier and complete the form. If you do not have an accessible studio or a space to show your work, BOS has partnered with several Main Street locations and galleries for the Beacon Open Studios + Upstate Art Weekend, including The Kube Art Center, Lotusworks Gallery, Hudson Beach Glass, Trax Espresso Bar and Cafe, Bank Square Coffeehouse, and Aveda Salon Sant de La Rose.

The Yard, located at 4 Hanna Lane, will serve as the BOS hub this year. Their support and generosity has not only bolstered our efforts to showcase Beacon’s visual artist community, but awarded us the ability to shine a light on its talented musicians! Join us in the evening on Saturday, July 22 for an outdoor music event not to be missed! Tickets will be available soon.

Beacon Open Studios, now in its 15th year, is one of BeaconArts longest running fiscally sponsored projects!

BeaconArts 2023 postcards

BeaconArts received a terrific group of art submissions for our 2023 postcards. We would like to have used everyone’s work—the decision to choose four was a challenge. Thank you to everyone who submitted!

Congratulations to our talented BeaconArts members whose artwork will be featured on our new BeaconArts postcards. Nice work Alyssa Follansbee, Jan Dolan, Gemma Kahng, and Anna West! We distribute these cards in the community and at all our events to spread the word about BeaconArts. We're printing them now, so keep a look out for them soon!

Volunteer With BeaconArts

Lastly, BeaconArts is an all volunteer organization—including our board members—and we're looking for some help with a few ongoing projects. We're looking for some help with our Bus Shelter Fundraiser Concert, web development needs, grant writing and the Artist Member Exhibition in October, among others. If you have time, passion, interest and talents to share, please reach out to discuss how we might be able to collab. We'd love to work with you!

As always, thanks for reading and please feel free to forward this to any friends who want to join or donate to BeaconArts. We and the whole BeaconArts community appreciate your support.

Thanks, BeaconArts Board
