SURVEY
With very limited attendance at our monthly meetings, we have compiled a survey to gather feedback from our members.  We NEED to hear from our membership.  There’s only a few questions and it should only take a couple minutes to complete. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/28TP682
Range Work
On May 30th we had a significant amount of material delivered to the facility to make planned improvements such as extending the pistol berms, relocating the walkway between the trap range and pistol range and improving the ground cover on the pistol range.  Over the next few weeks there will be work being performed in this area.  While the volunteer is here working, please do not use the pistol range.
Raffle Drawing
Due to dwindling ticket sales, during the May membership meeting it was decided that we set a date to hold the drawing.  The drawing will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday June 17, during our volunteer work day.  All tickets must be received by then.  Tickets are available in the clubhouse on the sign in table. Tickets can also be purchased in person from 6:00PM until 7:00PM Wednesday June 14th or from 8:00AM until 11:59AM on Saturday June 17th.  Tickets can also be purchased at Black Bear Weaponry in Lisbon during their normal operating hours.

Volunteer Work Day
Our Spring work day will be Saturday June 17th starting at 9:00AM.  We are once again combining what used to be our annual Game Dinner with our work day.  We will have hamburgers, hotdogs, soda and water available. Members are welcome to bring a dish to share.  If you wish to only come for the food, we’ll start serving around 11:30am.
For work day tasks, we have more trees and brush to clear, we have a member who is bringing a Bush Hog which should be a huge help!  We will need people to cut trees and haul the cuttings into the woods behind the pistol berm.  We will be replacing our rifle range target stands and will need help digging holes and installing the new target stands.  We will also have trash that needs to be hauled to the dump, if you have a truck/trailer and a dump permit we need you! We will be installing sound dampening insulation to the overhead of the pistol range cover and walking and marking the property line on the south side of the club.
We also need to increase the height of our pistol berms.  If you have an excavator and would be willing to donate your use and operation of it, we would greatly appreciate your service!
We have several stumps that could use to be ground to not pose a hazard.  If you have a stump grinder and would be willing to bring it over please let us know.
If you have any equipment, you’re willing and able to bring, please contact Brandon, our club president (President@LisbonFGA.org, 207-333-0066) to coordinate what equipment we need and what others have offered to bring already.
Unlike many of the area clubs, we do not mandate volunteer hours for our members. We do ask for members to volunteer their time for the overall good of the club.  If you are unable to volunteer during our scheduled work days that’s fine. Please consider helping out in small ways when you use our facilities.  If you see a trash can is full, please take the bag out and place it in the club house.  Additional bags should be available in the bottom of each trash can.  When you’re done shooting, please remove and dispose of your targets in the trash cans, if you see someone else forgot to dispose of their targets consider throwing it away for them. Please pick up your shell casings, if you see other shell casings left on the ground, please consider picking those up as well. Our club is maintained 100% by volunteers. This helps us to keep our dues low.
Women’s Group
The June Women’s Group meeting will be meeting on Wednesday June 7th from 1:00PM – 3:00PM.  There is no charge for this event and all members or their spouses are encouraged to attend.  Members are welcome to bring a guest.  Guests are encouraged to join the club if they’d like to continue attending the Women’s Group meetings.  Please bring a pistol, ammunition, your preferred targets and plan to practice for about an hour. There will be a challenge shoot at the end with cleanup at 2:30PM followed by a group discussion in the clubhouse. These meetings are led by NRA instructor Alice Andrenyak.  For more information, she can be reached by email at Alice@AMaineGuide.com

Insurance Policy Update
In case you missed it, effective April 1st we instituted a new policy that children must be 12 years old or older to shoot firearms at the Lisbon Fish & Game.  This policy change was not by choice.  Our insurance carrier put our policy with Berkshire Hathaway who instituted this age restriction as well as a requirement that Machine Guns be tethered to a shooting bench before being allowed to be used, which has resulted on a ban on fully automatic firearms at this time.  As a result, we have looked at other insurance options.  Presently we have three options; 1. accept the age restriction being imposed on us by Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathaway.  2. Change insurers to Lockton Affinity, this policy does NOT have the age restriction, nor do they impose restrictions on what firearms can be used or how they are used at our facility.  Unfortunately, this option is approximately $1,000 more per year and will result in an increase in dues of $5 per member starting in 2024.  3. We purchase insurance through the NRA.  This would require us to mandate that all members are NRA members.  We would be able to offer discounted annual NRA memberships for $10 per member and would provide us with access to NRA range improvement and youth sports grants.

Sound Study
A few months ago two nearby residents complained about the noises emanating from our club.  The membership discussed the issue and agreed that before we can make any meaningful improvements we needed to understand the present condition of our facilities.  To do this we purchased a decibel meter and on Saturday May 20th we conducted a sound study to measure the sounds at our property lines and at various locations in the surrounding area.  The next step is for us to make planned improvements (such as adding insulation to the pistol range) which we will then be able to assess the effectiveness of by performing future sound measurements.
Missing Firearm
One of our members believes that they left a pistol on the pistol range.  When they returned to the club to retrieve it, it was missing.  If you found their lost firearm, please contact the club president (207-333-0066) or drop it off to the Brunswick Police Department.
If you ever discover an unattended firearm at our facility, please report it immediately!
