Dear Friends,

The last month has marked the launch of more than one project. We did our first "Special Edition" Newsletter to mark the launch of the Trenton Youth Wrestling and Learning Center fundraising campaign. I had fun with the #WrestlingShirtADayinMay hashtag on Twitter.

And, a few days ago, I premiered a video to social media and to my website that is intended to help people learn more about my public speaking.

You may have noticed that my Newsletter usually begins with an idea from the world of philosophy. I have a birthday coming shortly, and somehow that reminds me of these words from American philosopher William James.

So buckle up, and let's see what's going on.

As many of you already know, I have always been committed to sharing what I know through public speaking, coaching, keynote addresses, and more. Before the pandemic landed on us, I had been rapidly expanding the number of events I was participating in. The pandemic changed that and we found ourselves meeting via Zoom and not in person. Thankfully, as a society, it made us more aware of how necessary it is to get together and have conversations about what is important.

One of my objectives over the next year is to speak more often and to more diverse audiences. If you would like to know more about inviting me to speak to your organization or at your event, I've just released this video on YouTube and across social media. I'd be honored if you would take the time to watch it now,  and let me know what you think.

Trenton Youth Wrestling

May 31 marked the launch of The Trenton Youth Wrestling and Learning Center campaign. Julie and I, along with co-hosts Rob Prunetti, Jordan and Lauren Burroughs, and Matt and Kristen Tormenti welcomed wrestlers, coaches, civic and business leaders, and others to the Launch event held at my home.

Wrestling Shirt A Day in May

#WrestlingShirtADayInMay on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook was epic fun. I had no idea that so many would get a kick out of seeing some of the wrestling shirts I've accumulated over the years. It was fun modelling some of the shirts, but I don't think I'll give up my day job.

As a Philosophy undergrad at William & Mary I was convinced that studying Philosophy would help make me a better doctor by improving my ability to communicate. I believe that proved to be true, and indeed I believe the the study of Ancient Philosophers is still of great value in 2023. One of my favorites is Marcus Aurelius and the ideas found in "The Meditations". To this day I re-read a small part of the Meditations every morning. Aurelius is one of the most significant of the Stoics. In his spare time, he was Emperor of the Roman Empire. Nearly 1900 years after his death, his ideas still resonate.

Eight Meditations is an article I wrote in 2022 that looked at what I consider to be eight of the most significant of the ideas found in the book.

No NeuroRounds on July 4th, 2023

NeuroRounds is a CME Credit Approved, Virtual Clinical Experience presented at 7:00 AM on the FIRST Tuesday of the month. It is intended for Med Students, Pre-Med, NP's, PA-C's or anyone looking to improve their professional skill set and understanding. It's designed as a LIVE event. The first Tuesday of July takes place on the 4th of July and we know that many of our regular participants will be involved in 4th of July events throughout the day.

As a result, in July we'll be premiering a "Greatest Hits" edition of NeuroRounds to celebrate both the 4th and the success of the NeuroRounds series. You'll see pearls from past guests, great interactions, big ideas, cases and more. Watch for a "Special Edition" Newsletter with your invitation, or be sure to follow me in different social media to assure that you notified.

Our regularly scheduled event will return on August 1st

This is YOUR Newsletter. If you have ideas that you would like me to explore in the Newsletter, on my website, or in social media, consider this your invitation to let me know. Also, if you have friends who might enjoy the Newsletter, please feel free to pas it on.

Warm regards,
Mark
