‘HEAD’ Lines

‘The proof is in the pudding’

Dear Parents/Carers

Many Year 11 students have now completed their GCSE exams and the rest only have their last exam early next week. Year 7-9 have been completing end of year exams this week and will continue to do so next week. Year 10 will start next week, now that the exam venues have been vacated by Year 11.

While we will have to wait to find out how well the students have performed, all the positive feedback we have been receiving points to the fact, that the emphasis we have been putting on Learning to Learning is helping students feel more confident about how to prepare for and tackle their exams and assessments.

I would like to thank you for the support you continue to give your children, such that the Learning to Learn activities we set them to complete outside of the classroom are seen as an important part of the learning journey.

Year in, year out we know that the students who understand how to apply their knowledge, skills and understanding are those who perform to their very best – this is what Learning to Learn is designed to support.

Enjoy another sunny weekend with your children.

Regards
Russell Stevens
Headteacher

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At John Hanson Community School we are committed to providing equality of opportunity for all students and staff, and to providing a working environment free from discrimination, prejudice and harassment.

We encourage respect and consideration for others, and recognise and value the school as a safe place for learning. The staff at John Hanson recognise that inequalities exist in all levels of society and believe, that as educators, we have a crucial role to play in eliminating all forms of discrimination, in particular against anyone with any of the protected characteristic. We promote equality by dealing with bullying and incidents of discrimination immediately and by educating the young people in our care through assemblies, tutor time, PSHE day sessions and group work where appropriate.

This is part of our responsibility in preparing our students for life after school.
