Open call: EnerDigit Joint Call 2023

The EnerDigit Joint Call 2023 on digital transformation for green energy transition is open for applications. Nordic Energy Research acts as Call Management for the call and invites all interested to apply. 

The EnerDigit Joint Call 2023 is launched by the European Joint Programming Platform ERA-Net Smart Energy Systems. Applicants are expected to address key challenges and opportunities relating to one or more of the objectives of the call, which include aspects related to social sustainability, energy- and ICT infrastructure or energy marketplaces, business models, and communication. 

Deadline for project proposals is 12 September 2023, at 14:00 (CEST).

Save the date: The Nordic Hydrogen Valleys Conference 2023

On 4–5 October, Nordic Energy Research welcomes all researchers, innovators, investors, and policy makers to the Nordic Hydrogen Valleys Conference in Reykjavík, Iceland. The conference program is well in progress and will revolve around the five projects supported through the "Nordic hydrogen valleys as energy hubs – by 2030 and 2040" call, part of the Joint Nordic Hydrogen Research Programme:

  • Nordic Hydrogen Hubs – Roadmaps towards 2030 and 2040 (NordicH2hubs)
  • Rally to the Valley: Establishing Hydrogen Value Chains for the Nordics (Nord_H2ub)
  • Hydrogen, Ammonia, and Methanol in Hydrogen Hubs in the Nordic Region (H2AMN)
  • Hydrogen Safety and Improved Permit Processes (H2SIPP)
  • Material and Structural Integrity Assessment for Safe Nordic Hydrogen Transportation Infrastructure (MatHias)

Announcement: Choice of consultant for Energy Poverty

Nordic Energy Research is pleased to announce that Rambøll has been selected to conduct the study Energy Poverty in a Nordic context. The main objective of the study is to concretize the definition(s) of energy poverty in a Nordic context and quantify energy poverty in the Nordics according to the definition(s). 

"Our team looks forward to supporting Nordic Energy Research and the Nordic countries in this ambition by mapping the definitions and extent of energy poverty in the Nordics, examining how it is being addressed today, and recommending best practices for addressing it in the future," says Ask T. H. Brüel, Market Director at Ramboll.

Nordic Energy Research at Folkemødet 2023

Last week, Nordic Energy Research hosted two events in the Nordic tent at the "People's Festival" (Folkemødet), on Bornholm, Denmark. 

At the two events, "The Green Transition and the Sea" and "Energy and Security – A New Trilemma", Nordic Energy Research illustrated the significance of Nordic energy co-operation, in a time when national security, the environment, and social concerns of the energy transition have never been more salient.

Nordic Energy Challenge 2023: Meet candidates Fabian Bühler and Stefan Petrović

The first stage of the Nordic Energy Challenge 2023 is completed, with five challengers advancing to the second phase. Meet this year's challengers, one at a time, and gain insight into their ideas in support of Energy and Security. One of the qualified contributions is from the duo Fabian Bühler and Stefan Petrović

The next step is for the participants to submit their final proposals by 10 August. More information will follow about the other applicants.

CETPartnership: Joint Call 2023 approaching final publication

In the end of May, the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) Governing Board unanimously approved the call text for the CETPartnership Joint Call 2023, at their semi-annual Board Meeting in Uppsala, Sweden.

Nordic Energy Research's role in the CETPartnership is to manage and develop the joint calls on behalf of more than 40 international funding partners. The Joint Call 2023 text has been developed by Nordic Energy Research's CETPartnership team, Senior Adviser Maria Enge, Senior Adviser Aiko Nakano Hylander, and Adviser Jacob Munch, who celebrate the approval and look forward to contributing with Nordic values to the CETPartnership.
