New guide on how to assess the certainty of evidence from network meta-analyses
In network meta-analyses, evaluating the certainty of evidence using the GRADE (grading of recommendations, assessment, development, and evaluations) approach demands a comprehensive grasp of methods and considerable effort from raters.
A new guidance article, Assessing the certainty of evidence for one comparison in a network meta-analysis, introduces practical strategies that streamline the application of GRADE for evidence certainty assessment in network meta-analyses while upholding rigour.
The authors propose a systematic approach comprising steps such as evaluating direct, indirect, and NMA estimates, defining guidelines for each phase, enforcing rules to bolster information assessment's reliability and decrease workload, and exploring options for automating specific stages of the process. These strategies offer a roadmap for enhancing the efficiency of evidence certainty evaluation in complex analyses.
