Penrose Commons Recreation Area Management Plan (RAMP) - Comments due by July 7th

Here is your opportunity to shape the future of Penrose Commons to benefit trials and singletrack riders.

The Plan considers changes to trail designation in response to the shift in OHV types and includes a proposal to add singletrack trails, a trials practice area and a beginner skill area.

However, we need to object to some of the contingencies.  Establishing designated motorcycle singletrack trails should begin immediatly - not only "if strong partnerships, including a “Friends of” group, is well established".  Also Trials and skill development areas should be developed in step with singletrack trails and not be contingent on a vague and arbitrary condition that future “designated singletrack proves successful” or based upon the actions or behaviors of other users, or the suggested "Friends Group" being established.

Trails Preservation Alliance (TPA) has provided some background information and excellent talking points.  However, don't risk your comments getting consolidated by copying.  It is more persuasive and impactful to rephrase from your personal perspective.

Proposed New BLM Rule
Comments extended from June 20 to July 5

This proposed new rule is a bad idea and we need to tell the BLM so!

The BLM is proposing to create “conservation leases” for any “qualified individual, business, non-governmental organization, or Tribal government”.
There are many concerns as the proposal seems to suggest the transfer of management of public land and bypasses existing policies and procedures.

Trails Preservation Alliance (TPA) has provided some background information and excellent talking points.  (Please rewrite in your own words to ensure your comments are not consolidated.)

DEFECTIVE - If you have a 2024 OHV sticker, the red ink my bleed off - but the black ink will still be proof of your registration.
New OHV registration orders are being held until this can be fixed. Please keep using your temporary - it will be honored, even after it expires.
