Cold Chain Management training requirements
Cold chain management is important to ensure that effective and potent vaccines are administered to the public. For continued access to government-funded vaccines, Victorian practices must ensure that their Vaccine Coordinator and a backup person complete the department’s Cold Chain Management eLearning modules by 1 August 2023. Staff who accept vaccine deliveries should also complete the training.

COVID-19 provider bulletin 19 June

Increased Moderna BA.4-5 PFS allocation
Sites who administer Moderna BA. 4-5 pre-filled syringes (PFS) had their allocations increased to 100 doses per fortnight on 10 June. Note - if you have a need for more vaccines, you can place an additional order through CVAS.

Target groups for COVID-19 boosters
The primary goal of the COVID-19 Vaccine Program is to minimise the risk of severe disease, and as research demonstrates, vaccine effectiveness of boosters remains above 50 per cent even six months after receipt. For advice on COVID-19 boosters for target groups, see the provider bulletin here.

Providing COVID-19 in-reach
Murray PHN is working with residential aged care homes and disability residences to enable access to the 2023 COVID-19 booster for residents and staff. If you can offer in-reach services, email us at covax@murrayphn.org.au

Aged care residents should be prioritised for COVID-19 booster doses. When administering vaccinations, please consider that COVID-19 and influenza vaccines can be administered on the same day.

Murray PHN acknowledges its catchment crosses over many unceded First Nations Countries, following the Dhelkunya Yaluk (Healing River).
We pay our respects and give thanks to the Ancestors, Elders and Young people for their nurturing, protection and caregiving of these sacred lands and waterways, acknowledging their continuing cultural, spiritual and educational practices.
We are grateful for the sharing of Country and the renewal that Country gives us. We acknowledge and express our sorrow that this sharing has come at a personal, spiritual and cultural cost to the wellbeing of First Nations peoples. We commit to addressing the injustices of colonisation across our catchment, and to listening to the wisdom of First Nations communities who hold the knowledge to enable healing.
We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
