I am obsessed with color and surface in painting and with creating immersive installations to offer a multi-faceted experience. The paintings, installation, and audio in this exhibition contemplate infinite connections within ecosystems, from microscopic larvae to the shimmering waters and fluttering leaves of the visible realm.

I am fascinated by the relationships between forests and the carbon and water cycles and how these processes relate to other organisms. Entanglements, the large suspended installation includes glass vessels enmeshed in tangles of sisal twine containing water from the Wisconsin River that will evaporate and return to the atmosphere over the duration of the exhibition.
This body of work emerged after artist residencies at the St. Croix Research Station in Marine on St. Croix and the Trout Lake Research Station in northern Wisconsin. Consulting with scientists to investigate the relationships between forests and watersheds, I became intensely aware of the delicate relationships between the tiniest unseen organisms and those creatures which may be overlooked or feared yet are integral to complex ecosystems.

NOTE: I will be offering a workshop on August 12, stay tuned for more information!

This exhibition is supported (in part) by the Women Artist Forward Fund and the Forward Art Prize,
and is sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service.
If you visit Door County this summer, I hope you will stop by and say hi to Ginnie at the lovely Cappaert Contemporary Gallery, now representing my work in Egg Harbor. The gallery is open daily from May 1 - October 31.
When your travels take you to Minneapolis, ask Sally or Andrea at Groveland Gallery, to show you my work. Their iconic building with its green tile roof is across from the Walker Art Center, another fantastic place to see contemporary art!
