UR Medicine Expands Tuition-Free Nursing Scholars Program to 120 Students Per Year

To combat the rising nursing shortage in the region, the University of Rochester Medical Center and School of Nursing are expanding their pioneering UR Nursing Scholars Program. The program, which offers a tuition-free accelerated bachelor's degree in exchange for a three-year work commitment at Strong or Highland hospitals, will now accept 120 students per year.

UR Nursing Studies to Examine Sexual Health, HIV Interventions Among Women of Color

|
Innovation in HIV prevention and treatment has reached new heights, but there remains a need to better understand the optimization and uptake of HIV biomedical interventions among communities who are most disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS. Two studies led by Natalie Leblanc, PhD, MPH, RN, BS, will explore this subject, with a focus on Black, Hispanic and Latine women in New York and Florida.

Carno Elected to Lead American Thoracic Society's Nursing Assembly

|
Margaret-Ann Carno, PhD, MBA, MJ, CPNP-AC/PC, CNE, FAAN, ATSF, has been elected as chair of the Nursing Assembly for the American Thoracic Society (ATS). A member of ATS for more than 20 years, Carno will now oversee the Nursing Assembly's programming, planning, and working and interest groups, while serving on the organization's board of directors.
