August Events Scheduled at Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site
BISMARCK, N.D. – The Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site is offering free activities in August to promote learning and fun for adults and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. School groups and day cares are encouraged to attend. Cookies and lemonade will be served. All programs are 2-4 p.m.
Aug. 1 Birdhouses. Learn about the birds that frequent the mansion grounds and paint your own birdhouse. Birdseed and one birdhouse will be provided for each family.
Aug. 8 The Sun Is Magical! Did you know you can use the sun to create art? Join us for two different projects where we will use the sun to make something wonderful.
Aug. 15 Mini Canvases. Artwork has long adorned the walls of the Former Governors’ Mansion. Discover the history of artwork that was displayed here, and paint your own mini masterpiece.
The Former Governors’ Mansion, located at 320 East Ave. B, Bismarck, is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Admission is free. The mansion is currently open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 12-4 p.m. Additional upcoming educational programs sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota can be found at history.nd.gov/events.
