Welcome to FICDO's June 2023 newsletter, highlighting what we have been up to during the past four weeks. As always, we thank you for enabling us to enable our community.

FICDO Turned FOUR!

This month marks four years since FICDO started operations. What started as informal "befriending" visits by two volunteers to the vulnerable elderly set the foundation for FICDO's work. By the grace of God, FICDO now provides vital support to the community. In addition to providing practical support for the elderly and opportunities for women, we support a hundred children (mainly girls) to stay in school, by providing moral and material resources including two meals a day. Above all, we believe we have connected people to people and inspired several in our community and beyond to live out love in action. We, too, are inspired by you - our supporters and hope to continue to do what we do with even more vigour. Here is to four years of walking in love!

"A Blanket for An Elderly"

As part of FICDO's community care program, we strive to meet the practical needs of the most vulnerable elderly who have no family and resources. Last week, we distributed one hundred blankets to elderlies in three towns living in extremely poor conditions. We hope the blankets will relieve the elderly from the cold during this Ethiopian Winter. We are grateful to all who responded graciously and generously.

Supporters Visit

A member of FICDO's UK support group, accompanied by two of our board members, graced us with her visit to our field office in Fitche this month. Our guests used the opportunity to chat with the children they sponsor. By the Grace of God, the children have grown taller and in wisdom. It is humbling to see their progress, thanks to our supporters' and volunteers' efforts, determination and generosity. Quick updates from FICDO's other projects/programs

Our volunteers continue to drop packed meals from our community kitchen daily to fifteen elderlies with no family.
Our self-help income-generating project for women is going smoothly. As mentioned above, the women received a week-long training this month
Our feeding program continues smoothly.
The leadership team continue to meet on a weekly basis to discuss project activities as well as reflect on why we serve.

Are you one of those people who want the very best for children? Does the news of deprivation and the extreme poverty of millions of children in our world trouble you? We won't promise to 'fix' world poverty. However, here is an opportunity to enable a young person...Just 20 USD a month can turn around the life of a young person trapped in extreme poverty. For just 20 USD, FICDO provides the necessities for the young person to stay in School, including daily meals, school uniform, school materials, and after-school and community support.
